November 27: A Prayer for Recovery in South Carolina

Our Father, we thank You for extending Your grace and mercy to the citizens of South Carolina. Thank You for helping them to recover. Thank You for pouring out Your spirit of love, compassion, benevolence and generosity towards them.  Lord, You are great and Your Name is great in might. Your eternal Word stands firm in heaven. Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth You created.  Today, we bow down and worship You.  We kneel before You and acknowledge You as our Lord and maker. You are our God and we are the people that You watch over and have taken under Your care.

Almighty Father, You have instructed us to share each other’s burdens. So, we cry out to You for the citizens in South Carolina as they are trying to put their lives together following the devastating storms and massive flooding.  We decree that the recovery process will be done in decency and order.  We command justice to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream for the families and communities affected by the storm and massive flooding.  By faith, we decree that they will commit their rebuilding plans to You so that their plans are successful. They will trust in You and not depend on their own understanding.  They will seek Your will in all that they do so that You can show them which path to take.  We declare that favor surrounds the residents of South Carolina like a shield as they file insurance claims and start to rebuild.  We command peace, be still in South Carolina!

Holy Spirit, please unify the residents in South Carolina as they move forward with the recovery process. Heal them physically, emotionally, and psychologically and restore them as they rebuild their lives. As the communities continue with the rebuilding process, help them to write Your vision for their lives plainly on tablets so that they may be able to run forward and implement it.  Convict the heart of any business, agency or individual who would attempt to take advantage of the residents for profit or gain. Please send people who will love, support, and comfort them during their time of recovery.

Righteous Father, forgive all of us for any acts of sinfulness that we have committed by thought, word or deed. Forgive us as a nation for not acknowledging You until a tragedy such as this happens.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, help us all to forgive others.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the citizens of South Carolina to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Redeeming King, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  You are the One who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One. You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power.  You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
