November 24: A Prayer for Peace in Syria

Sovereign Father, we thank You for blessing the United States of America. Thank You for honoring our prayers as we pray for Syria.  Thank You for extending Your mercy toward us.  Your Word is true and we can trust everything that You do.  You love whatever is just and good.  Your unfailing love fills the earth.  It is good to give thanks to You, Lord, and to sing Your praises.  Lord, You will be exalted forever.  Your enemies will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered.

Righteous Father, in the Name of Jesus, we rebuke the spirits of fighting and war and command peace to be still in Syria, now!  Lord of Heaven’s Armies, we declare that Your very Name keeps us safe from all harm.  Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, their armies and weapons, but we boast in the Name of the Lord, our God.  Father, it is Your will that all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead quiet and peaceful lives in all Godliness and reverence. This is good and acceptable in Your sight, for You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Therefore, we pray for President Barack Obama, President Vladimir Putin and President Bashar al-Assad.  We decree that each of them will search for peace and work to maintain it.  We rebuke the spirits of fear, intimidation, rhetoric and lies right now in the Name of Jesus.  Every attempt to misconstrue the Truth will be confused, in Jesus’ Name.  We declare that Your plans for Syria will be implemented fairly and justly in Jesus’ Name.

Almighty Father, please surround President Barack Obama, President Vladimir Putin and President Bashar al-Assad with wise and Godly counsel so that they will make decisions that are in the best interest of the Syrian citizens, as well as the global community. Calm the fears of the residents of bordering countries.  Holy Spirit, please help President Barack Obama and Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter to make decisions that align with Your security plans for our nation.  Stir the hearts of Christians around the world to pray.

Merciful Father, forgive all of us for any acts of sinfulness that we have committed by thought, word or deed. Forgive the American Church for our ignorance and insouciance concerning this conflict and for failing to pray consistently for this situation.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

You are the Lord, our God, and there is no other.  No one is holy like You.  There is no one besides You.  There is no Rock like You, our God.  Lord, You are the King of kings and Lord of lords.  You rule and reign forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
