February 2: A Prayer for Victory Preparatory Academy

Majestic Father, we praise and thank You for our educators and students of Victory Preparatory Academy.  Thank You for Rev. Lisa Berry Dockery and staff.  Thank You for surrounding the educators and students with favor like a shield.  We exalt You, our God and King, and praise Your Name forever and ever.  We will praise You every day and forever.  Lord, You are great and most worthy of praise; no one can measure Your greatness.  Each generation will tell its children of Your mighty acts and proclaim Your power. Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains and Your justice like the ocean depths.

Triumphant Father, we confess that, like Jesus, the students on both Victory Preparatory campuses will grow in wisdom, stature and favor with You and all people.  We declare that they will focus on their studies and not grow distracted or complacent. Each student will work willingly in their classes as though they were working for You. They will respect and obey the instructions of their parents, teachers and school administrators.  We confess that each student will come into the knowledge of who they are in You.  They will stop copying the behavior and customs of this world and let You transform them into new people by changing the way they think about themselves and their futures. When they return to their home environments, they will not hide the light of Christ, but will allow it to shine so others will see their good works and glorify You, their Heavenly Father.  We declare that the wise instruction of their teachers will be like a life-giving fountain to each student.

Holy Spirit, show me how to pray for the students at Victory Preparatory Academy:

Holy Spirit, impart into our students Your spirit of excellence, like You did Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego. Bless our educators for their service to the Houston community.  Help them to remain committed to their educational “calling.”  Give each teacher wisdom, creativity, and grace to teach each child according to his or her needs, level of intelligence, and learning capabilities. Release a steady stream of resources for Victory Preparatory so both campuses will always have the equipment, resources and materials they need to effectively educate the students.  Bless the homes of our students to be places of love, peace and support.  We ask You to increase the capacity of our students to learn, comprehend and excel in all areas of their education including: reading, mathematics, science, arts, and all required testing. During their extracurricular activities, please protect them from injury.

Merciful Father, forgive the sins of our educators and students (list the specific sins).  Forgive those of us in the Body of Christ, for being negligent in teaching our students to first reverence You, which is the foundation of true knowledge.  Forgive those parents for sacrificing their students to excessive television, video games, music and to the ways and customs of the world.  Forgive us, as a nation, for devaluing the worth of teachers and education. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our educators and students of Victory Prep Academy of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our educators and students of Victory Preparatory Academy to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Almighty King, You are the only true God.  You are the living God and the everlasting King.  The whole earth trembles at Your anger.  The nations cannot stand up to Your wrath.  Great and mighty is Your reign!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
