A Prayer of Protection for the United States of America

A Prayer of Protection for the United States of America

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 108:1-5, Psalm 91

Reflections of the Heart:

The United States of America is considered a great and powerful nation.  As awesome as this sounds, let us put our trust in God alone. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.”  Psalm 33:12

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, Your Word is true and we can trust everything that You do.  You love whatever is just and good.  Your unfailing love fills the earth.  You merely spoke and the heavens were created, You breathed the Word and all of the stars were born.  You assigned boundaries to the seas and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.  Let the whole world fear You and let everyone stand in awe of You!  Father, we thank You for blessing our country.  Thank You for honoring our prayers as a nation and extending Your mercy toward us.  Thank You for protecting our borders.

We know that the nation whose God is the Lord is blessed, so we declare today that the United States is a nation that worships the living God.  We confess that we are a nation that will love You, Lord, with all of our hearts, souls, strength, and minds.  We will love our neighbors and we will love ourselves.  We declare that we are a nation that trusts in You, and practices good works.  We will live safely in the land and prosper.  We command justice to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream in the business, educational, judicial, social, and healthcare systems in our country.  Lord, we declare that we are a nation that acknowledges Your Son, Jesus Christ.  We decree that all hidden agendas, strategies, and plans to cause destruction in our nation will be exposed.  We command “peace” to be still in the weather throughout the United States.

I pray for God’s divine intervention in the following areas for our nation:

Father, have mercy on our country.  We admit that we have been a sinful nation weighted down with iniquity.  In Your great compassion, please blot out the stains of the sins of our nation.  Wash us clean from our guilt and purify us from our sins.  Holy Spirit, touch the heart of the American Christian church to be a light that sits upon the hill in our country.  Stir the hearts of every American Christian to represent Your love and grace in their daily living.  Convict those Christians who are lukewarm and give them the courage and joy to stand for holiness and righteousness.  Father, continue to pour out Your Holy Spirit on our nation and please do not turn Your face away from us.  Cause Your peace to dwell in our nation.  We ask You to help Mayor Bill White, Governor Rick Perry, and President George Bush.  Increase Your wisdom, knowledge, confidence and peace in them.  Guide all of our local, state, and national leaders.  Help them in their personal and professional lives.  Holy Spirit, alert us about dangerous weather patterns so that we may speak “peace” over them.  Please sustain the prayer movements in our nation and increase the effectiveness of our prayers.

Father, forgive us as a nation for our many sins.  Forgive us for hypocrisy, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, ageism, elitism, deceit, lying, lewdness, pornography, selfish ambitions, lawlessness, rebellion, violence, hatred, partiality, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and slander.  Forgive us for not representing Your Kingdom as a Christian nation.  Lord, remind our nation to be forgiving and help us to forgive.

As a nation, lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

You are the Lord, our God, and there is no other.  No one is holy like You.  No one is besides You.  There is not any rock like You.  Lord, You are the King of kings and Lord of lords.  You rule and reign forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
