A Prayer of Peace and Protection for Our Schools

Scripture Reading: II Samuel 22:1-4, Psalm 27:1-4

Our Father, we thank You for Your love and presence in our schools and learning spaces. Thank You for Your provision for our educators and students. We thank You, Lord, for safety and protection for every educator and student. Thank You for blessing school communities with Your peace. We, Your people, come before You clapping our hands and shouting with joy unto You. You are awesome, Lord Most High! You subdue nations before us and put our enemies under our feet! Father, we thank You for choosing a promised land for our inheritance. We sing praises to You, our Father, and declare that You are the King over all of the earth!

Almighty Father, we decree that You are the Light and Salvation of our educators and students. They will learn in safety, and they will not be afraid. You are their fortress, protecting them from danger, so they will not tremble. In Jesus’ Name, we confess that our educators and students, as well as those in our school communities, will depart from evil and do good. They will search for peace and work to maintain it. In the authority given to us by Jesus Christ, we rebuke every spirit of fear, intimidation, murder, theft, vandalism, violence, bullying, destruction, discord and perversion from schools and learning spaces. We confess that there is a mighty flood of justice and an endless river of righteousness within the education system. We expect the well-being and quality of life for all students around the world to improve through efforts that include adequate distribution of resources on quality education so that schools will be openly accessible to all students.

Holy Spirit, I confess the following promises of God upon (list the name of a school or learning spacenear you).

Holy Spirit, give us courage to Christian educators to share the love of Christ with unsaved educators and students. Remove the scales from the eyes of those who cannot see Your glory and faithfulness. Use professionals in the education community as Your instruments to be a blessing. Lord help each educator and student to walk in love and unity towards one another. Let Your Spirit of love permeate our schools and learning spaces. Holy Spirit, unify our community and help us to stand against violence, crime and injustice at every school level. Make our learning spaces places for open dialogue that will build bridges of understanding among students.

Merciful Father, forgive our educators and students for all acts of sinfulness, including, strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, violence, injustice, hatred, oppression, greed, idolatry and pride. Forgive those educators who hold knowledge as a precious commodity that they disperse to a select few rather than making knowledge available to all. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).Holy Spirit, remind our educators and students of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our educators and students not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are the blessed and Sovereign One; the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man can see. Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
