A Prayer for Deliverance

A Prayer for Deliverance

Scripture Reading:

Exodus 15:1-20, John 14:15-26

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Your Name is holy.  You are our hiding place.  It is You who protects us from trouble and surrounds us with songs of victory.   With all of our hearts, we give thanks to You, O Lord.  We bow before Your holy temple as we worship.  We praise Your Name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness; Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your Name.  Lord, we thank You for hearing from heaven and blessing us.  Thank You for Your loving-kindness and tender mercies toward us.  Thank You for desiring the best for our lives.  Thank You for being our Redeemer, Healer and Deliverer.

Father, we declare that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus makes us free from the law of sin and death.  Therefore, we confess that our Church Family members, relatives, friends, and co-workers who are held captive by the bondage of sin will be set free through Jesus Christ.  We declare that they will throw off their old sinful nature and way of living, which is corrupted by lust and deception.   We confess that they will be renewed in the spirit of their minds, by putting on the new nature, created to be like God, righteous and holy.  Lord, we confess that they will put away lying, and each of them will speak truth with his neighbor.  As they do this, we declare that they will give no place to the devil.  Lord, we declare that they will not wage war as humans do, but they will use Your mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and false arguments in their minds.  We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps them from knowing You and we declare that their thoughts are held captive to the obedience of Christ. We command addictions, ungodly habits and strongholds to be broken, in Jesus’ Name.

Holy Spirit, show me what habits, things, mindsets are keeping me from being who God created me to be.  Then, show me what I need to do to walk in freedom from these things:

Father, touch the hearts of people to trust completely in You and Your Word.  Lord, heal every emotional and psychological wound and restore their self-confidence and self-worth.  Give them the desires of their hearts, as they delight in You.  Help them to fulfill Your purpose for their lives.  Blot out their transgressions.  Wash them thoroughly from their iniquities, and cleanse them from their sins.  Holy Spirit, create in them clean hearts, and renew a steadfast spirit within them.

Father, please forgive them for all acts of sinfulness including: idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, homosexuality, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness and revelries. Forgive them for lying, cheating, stealing, slander, strife, malice, envy, and jealousy, gossip and backbiting.  Forgive them for selfishness, disobedience and rebellion.   Father, forgive them for relying on themselves instead of You.  Lord, remind them to forgive others and help them to be quick to forgive.

Lead them not into temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord, You reign.  You dwell between the cherubim; let the earth be moved.  You are great in Zion and high above all people.  Your Name is so great and awesome.  You are Holy.  Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
