A Prayer for Active and Inactive U.S. Military Personnel
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 147, I Samuel 17
Reflections of the Heart::
We should honor and respect those who are willing to give of their lives for our country. We are a blessed nation. Let us remember the sacrifices of our active and inactive U.S. military personnel and their families in our daily prayers.
Scriptural Prayer
Heavenly Father, we praise You, the God of Israel, who lives from everlasting to everlasting. What a variety of things You have made. In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your creatures. Lord, we thank You for our U.S. military personnel and allies. We thank You for blessing our armed forces throughout history. Thank You for exposing every evil plot to destroy the United States. We thank You for making our nation a mighty power in the world. Lord, You are a faithful, loving and compassionate God and we bless You.
Father, do not be silent, deaf or quiet. Don’t You hear the uproar of Your enemies and see that they are rising up? They have devised crafty schemes against Your people. Father, the enemy says, “Come let us wipe out Israel as a nation. We will destroy the very memory of its existence.” Lord, as a nation, we are trusting in You and we are expecting You to deliver our U.S. military personnel from evil men. We are depending on You to rescue them from evil people and preserve them from those who are violent. Lord, by the authority You have given to us, we command peace to be still in the earth. By faith, we are expecting peaceful resolutions throughout the world.
I commit to praying for our military personnel in the following areas:
____________________________________________________________________________________
Father, we ask You to deal with our nation’s enemies, both inside and outside of our borders. Bless our nation and surround us with Your shield of love. Holy Spirit, expose every plot before any destruction occurs. Touch the hearts of our allies to stand strong with our nation. Increase their courage and strength as they continue to fight in battle. Give our President, his administration, leaders of the U.S. military and our allies increased wisdom and discernment. Please protect innocent citizens during this time. Father, we ask You to protect the families of our military personnel. Please continue to provide their basic needs. Holy Spirit, we ask You to intervene and clear the way so that the Gospel is preached throughout the world. As the Word goes forth, touch the hearts of the unsaved to receive it.
Father, please forgive our military personnel and allies for their sins. Forgive them for lying, cheating, stealing, slander, strife, malice, envy, jealousy, selfishness, disobedience and rebellion. Forgive our nation for hypocrisy, slander, greed, racism, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, injustice, elitism, hatred, and violence. Father, forgive the media for misrepresenting the truth. Forgive us, the church, for not praying for our local, national, and world leaders, especially President Bush and his administration. Father, touch the hearts of our military personnel and allies to forgive others, and help them to forgive.
Father, lead them not into temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.
Lord, You are King. You sit on Your throne between the cherubim; let the whole earth quake. You sit in majesty in Jerusalem, exalted above all the nations. Your Name is so great and awesome. You are Holy. Yours is the kingdom, the power and glory, forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
