A Prayer for Singles and Married Couples

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 98, Jeremiah 29:11-14

Reflections of the Heart:

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” – Maya Angelou

ONE Prayer:

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You for the plans and purposes You have for the lives of single and married couples.   With their whole being, they will praise You. They rejoice in knowing that You are God and that they are among the people You watch over and the flock under Your care. Thank You for being an awesome God who keeps Your covenant of unfailing love with those who love You and obey Your commands. Single and married families will sing a new song to You, Lord, for the wonderful deeds You have done.  They shout with joy and worship You with gladness.  They come before You singing with joy. You are the Lord, their Father, who made them and they are Yours!

Faithful Father, our single and married couples are led into all truth as it pertains to the covenant they have with You.  They are never subject to the spirit of fear, but they have power, love, and self-discipline to help them keep their covenant pure. They do only those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.  Wisdom will enter their hearts and knowledge will fill them with joy. Wise choices will watch over them and understanding will keep them safe. Singles will love You; they will not team up with those who are unbelievers and neither will they partner with those who practice wickedness.  Lord, husbands will live with their wives according to knowledge, and they will cherish them as manifested gifts of God’s favor. And wives will honor their husbands and will adorn themselves as Sarah did, not with material elegance but with quiet and peaceful spirits which You love, Lord God.

Father, as a spouse, I commit to making my marriage better by:

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following marriage(s):

Holy Spirit, help single and married couples to enhance their roles and all relationships.  Teach singles how to walk with integrity in this new digital age. Equip them in their relationships with their families, friendships, mentors, and co-workers.  Help them to fulfill Your best plans for their lives. Reveal creatives ways for married couples to love and enjoy each other. Remind them to freely issue mercy and forgiveness quickly without allowing grudges to form.  Anoint and unify them, so that their children are given stability and assurance, and the unsaved are given hope concerning the sanctity of marriage.

Compassionate Father, forgive single or married couples for all acts of sinfulness, including jealousy, outbursts of anger, homosexuality, fornication, envy pride, bitterness, lying, criticism, gossiping, stubbornness, spousal neglect, sexually, emotionally and relationally.   Forgive them all when they become distracted with the cares of this world that they turn from You. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind all single and married couples of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say “forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help single and married couples not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

We worship You, O Great Deliverer! All praise belongs to You. You are the Lord God of Israel who alone does such wonderful things.  We will praise Your Glorious Name forever.  Let the whole earth be filled with Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

A Prayer Against Hurricane Irma

Dear Believer,

Stand in your front or backyard, extend your hand in the direction of the Gulf Coast and speak to the storm.  In Mark 4:35-39, Jesus Christ spoke to the weather and commanded it to be calm.  So, as believers, we are following His example.  Pray with the authority that has been given to you in Jesus Christ and pray in faith. Please pray this prayer out loud and with fervency and determination.  God has placed His power in our verbal expressions, so lift up your voice.  Believe that your prayers will produce results in Jesus’ Name.  Please pray this prayer.

Thank you, in advance, for standing on the wall for our region.

A Prayer Against Hurricane Irma

Triumphant Father, thank You for hearing our prayers concerning Hurricane Irma. Thank You for reducing the power of this system in the Atlantic.  Lord, You are good.  Your steadfast love endures forever, and Your faithfulness spans to all generations! Your mercies are fresh every morning.  We praise Your great and awesome Name.  Your Name is holy!

Eternal Father, using the authority given to us in the Name of Jesus, we speak to Hurricane Irma, and we command peace, be still!  We command the winds to dissipate and the barometric pressure to rise and normalize. By faith, we declare that this storm will not reach north or south of Puerto Rico or hit the U.S. mainland.

Holy Spirit, we ask You to touch the hearts of believers throughout our nation to pray against this system and calm the fears of our citizens. Father, Your Word helped with hurricanes and tropical storms in the past.  Bless our residents to recover and rebuild from Hurricane Harvey.

Merciful Father, please forgive us for all acts of sinfulness.  Father, have mercy on our city and the surrounding areas.  Holy Spirit, remind us of those we need to forgive and help us to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from this impending weather system.

Holy, Holy, Holy are You, the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of Your glory. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the God who is, who was, and who is to come. You are the Almighty.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for the United States of America

Scripture Reading:
I Chronicles 16:23-34, Psalm 51:10-11

Reflections of the Heart:
This is the ______ day of the Omer. “We praise You, O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us by Jesus Christ, our eternal Redeemer and Savior, and commanded us to count the Omer. By faith, we wait with joyful hearts to celebrate the sending of Your Holy Spirit.”

Scriptural Prayer:

Almighty Father, we thank You for blessing the United States of America with abundance and prosperity. Thank You for surrounding our nation with Your favor, grace, and mercy. Thank You for our military personnel who sacrifice greatly to protect our nation. God, You merely spoke and the heavens were created. You breathed the Word, and all the stars were born. You assigned the sea its boundaries and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs. We praise Your Name forever and ever, for You possess all wisdom and power. Lord, You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains. You sit on Your holy throne and reign above the nations. All the kings of the earth belong to You. You are highly honored everywhere.

Heavenly Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in our nation. Father, unless You build the house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless You protect our nation, guarding it with sentries will do no good. While many citizens may worship other god’s in our nation, we proclaim that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. By faith, we declare that as Jesus Christ is lifted up in our nation, all people will to be drawn to Him. We decree that we live in the shelter of the Most High and we find rest in the shadow of You, the Almighty. God, You are our refuge, our place of safety. Lord of Heaven’s armies, You are our God and we will trust in You. Lord, we confess that no evil will come upon our nation; neither will any plague come near us. Your Word states that You have given Your angels charge over us to keep us in all our ways. We expect that You alone, will make us dwell in safety. Father, we expect Your Spirit to be poured out upon our nation. On today, the National Day of Prayer, we are expecting to receive Your Spirit abundantly. We declare that people in our nation will be set free today; for where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Come, Holy Spirit, come!
