A Prayer of Self-Examination and Repentance

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 98, Psalm 51

Reflections of the Heart:

“Explore thyself. Herein are demanded the eye and the nerve.” ~ Henry David Thoreau

Scriptural Prayer:

Loving Father, thank You for providing this special time of year for us to examine our lives. Thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. Thank You for sometimes allowing us to suffer afflictions and trials, for You are always faithful to bring us out with a greater knowledge of who we are in Christ. Thank You for the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us to lead and guide us every day. How good it is when we come together as a Church Family to sing praises to You! Throughout our lives, You have been faithful to heal our broken hearts and bandage our wounds. You support the humble, but bring the wicked down into the dust. We sing out our thanks to You, Lord. Your delight is in those who fear You; who put our hope in Your unfailing love. We give You glory! You have truly blessed us within our own homes. You send peace across our nation and satisfy our hunger with the finest wheat. We praise You, Lord!

Heavenly Father, we know that only those whose hands and hearts are pure can stand in Your Holy presence. We cannot worship idols and we must never tell lies. We know that if we want to receive Your blessing, we must first have right relationship with You. During this week of repentance and self-examination, we take the time to examine ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to show us where we have sinned. As a Church Family, we prepare our hearts and lift up our hands to You in prayer. We denounce our sins and leave our iniquity behind us. As we repent, we expect our faces to brighten with innocence.  We will be strong and free of fear. Misery has to flow away from us like water and our righteousness is brighter than the noonday. We look forward to being in Your presence. Father, we come before You this week, running with purpose in every step, not just shadowboxing. As a Church Family, we commit to discipline ourselves to do what we should so that our witness to those who do not know You will not be disqualified.

I am not perfect, but I know that I can do better in the following areas of my life:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, in our own strength, our efforts to change are futile. We ask You to help us release total control of our lives into Your hands. With Your help we can overcome our sinful ways. Lead us daily and remind us that we have been bought with a high price. Remind us of the spiritual laws You have taught us and help us to store the Father’s commands in our hearts. Help us to trust in You with all our hearts and get away from depending on our own understanding. Remind us to seek the Father’s will in all that we do. Help us not to be impressed with our own wisdom, but instead, strengthen us to fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

Holy Spirit, show me the sins that have a foothold in my life. (List those areas). I will take the following actions to break sin’s hold on my life:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Merciful Father, forgive us collectively and individually for the sins that we have committed against You. Forgive us for being prideful and deceiving ourselves. Forgive us for repeatedly making empty promises to You. Forgive us for being so quick to rush into sin. Forgive us for spending more time watching TV, texting, tweeting, and talking on Facebook, than praying, reading Your Word, and manifesting Your Kingdom by helping others.  Forgive us for behaving disrespectfully toward our spiritual leaders when they rebuke our disobedience. Forgive us for lying, gossiping, and holding grudges against our brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Magnificent King, You count all the stars and call them all by name. You are great and Your power is absolute. Your understanding is beyond comprehension! All glory to You alone, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are Yours before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Reverence and Honor to God

Scripture Reading:

Luke 1:68-75, I Chronicles 16:8-34

Reflections of the Heart:

Our God is an awesome God.  He is kind, tenderhearted, and merciful.  Our Father loves us with an everlasting love and He is always concerned about our welfare.  He provides all that we need through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  God should always be revered and adored.  He should have our utmost respect.  Today, bless the Lord by giving praise and worship to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Scriptural Prayer:

Gracious Father, we bless You. Thank You for being the King of Glory.  Thank You for being our Father, Redeemer, Shepherd and King.  Thank You for reconciling us back to You through Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are thankful to You for the Holy Spirit who is the promised advocate who empowers us to be effective witnesses to Your Kingdom here on earth.  Thank You for loving us and watching over us.  Lord, let all that we are praise You.  We will praise You as long as we live.  We will sing Your praises with our dying breath.  Our hope is in You, the Lord, our God.  You created heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.  You keep every promise forever.  We stand amazed at how awesome You are!

Awesome Father, today, we revere and honor You. You are our God and we submit our loyalty and adoration to You. You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You existed before time and created everything that exists.  Lord, only You have held the ocean in Your hand.  You measured off the heavens with Your fingers and You know how much the earth weighs!  You are truly amazing!  Father, all nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket to You. They are nothing more than dust on the scales.  You pick up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand!  Lord, You sit above the circle of the earth, the people below are like grasshoppers to You.  You spread out the heavens like a curtain and make Your tent from them.  When we look up at the sky, we know that You created every star that we see.  You bring them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.  Because of Your great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.  Lord, You are the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.  You never grow weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of Your understanding. You are good to everyone and shower compassion on all of Your creation.

Take a moment and reflect on God’s presence in your life.  Now, write down three things that You are grateful to Him for and begin to praise Him:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Glorious Father, please let Your ears always be attentive to our prayers.  Holy Spirit, continue to teach us how to love You, Jesus, our Brother, and our Father, God.  Please touch the hearts of those who do not adore the Lord, and help them to love Him with all their hearts, souls, and strength.  Please remind each of us of the many things that God does for us daily and help us to spend more time in praise and adoration.  Help us to be a thankful congregation who reflects the glory of God by the way we live our lives.  Holy Spirit, help us to always be mindful of Your presence in our daily lives and help us to be quick to respond when You quicken us to action.

Caring Father, forgive us as a Church Family for sins of pride, rebellion, disobedience, selfishness, hatred, and idolatry.  Lord, forgive us for half-hearted worship.  Forgive us for disrespecting Your Name and treating You irreverently.  Forgive those who choose to not bless and honor You during Your feasts, which are Your special times of celebration.  Forgive those of us who are parents for not teaching our children to revere and adore You.  Lord Jesus, forgive those who take Your sacrifice for granted.  Holy Spirit, forgive those who do not acknowledge You or Your presence in their daily lives.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God, the Almighty.  Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations.  Who will not fear You and glorify Your Name?  You alone are holy!  All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous deeds have been revealed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Remembrance

Scripture Reading:

Nehemiah 9:5-15, Psalm 77:11-20

Reflections of the Heart:

Remembrance is good for the soul. It has a way of putting the present into perspective, while at the same time, feeding your hope for the future. During this Fall Feast season, reverently and intentionally remember the Lord Our God and His faithfulness to you. Lift your hands in humble gratitude and thank Him for all that He has done for you and your family. If it had not been for the Lord, who was on your side, where would you be?

Scriptural Prayer:

Wonderful Father, we bless Your Name today. When we look back over our lives, we can’t help but thank You for Your goodness and mercy. Thank You for keeping our Church Family healthy, prosperous and going strong. Thank You for allowing us as a local body of believers to be used by You to build Your Kingdom here on earth. We are humbled when we consider all that You have done for us. We are grateful for this opportunity to reflect on all Your awesome works toward us, our families, our Church Family, our community, and our nation (begin to thank the Lord for how He has blessed Your life). Father God, we love You because You hear our prayers for mercy. You bend down to listen to us.  We worship You with gladness as we come before You singing with joy. We give thanks and praise Your Name. For, Lord, You are good and Your unfailing love continues forever. Your faithfulness continues to each generation.

Most Holy Father, we acknowledge You as the architect of the Fall Feasts.  As a Church Family, we will gladly adhere to Your holy command to observe these sacred feasts and remember Your great deeds.  We declare that we will never forget the good things You have done for us!  We remember that it was You who told Pastor Caldwell to look at an abandoned K-Mart building and see The Power Center.  We remember that it was You who manifested the dream of homeownership for hundreds of families by empowering us to build the Corinthian Pointe Residential community.  Father, we remember that where there was once just vacant pastureland at West Orem and South Post Oak, we are now able to rejoice as we worship and praise Your Name in The Kingdom Builders’ Center. We thank You for Jean Hines-Caldwell Elementary School, Texas Children’s Pediatric Associates, Walgreens, CVS, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Advanced Auto Parts, the YMCA, MD Anderson Health Studies’ Program, TSO Eye Clinic, ABC Dental, Golden Chick and the Corinthian Village Independent Living Community and Office Works.  We look in awe at all the wonderful things You’ve done and they are far too wonderful for us! Thank You for finding us faithful to be the vessel through which You have manifested blessings into the southwest region of Houston. As we remember all that You have done for us, we will never cease to share the story of Your wonderful goodness and sing with joy about Your righteousness.

Holy Spirit, remind me of some of the many great things God has done for me (write them down and begin to praise God for these things):

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, teach us to value this time of reverent reflection that has been afforded to us by our Heavenly Father. Bring back to our remembrance all of the trials He has brought us through, how He has protected and provided for us, and how He has graciously poured out His favor on us. Help us to stay focused on how blessed we are instead of complaining about what we do not have. For those of us who have lost the fire we had when we first received the Lord Jesus as our Savior, restore to us the joy of our salvation. Help us to pass down to our children our testimonies of victory and triumph through, the Father, so that His Name and Glory will be passed from generation to generation.

Glorious Father, forgive us for being too shortsighted and selfish to remember Your goodness to us every day. Forgive us for acting ungrateful from time to time.  Forgive us for allowing the cares of this world and the desires of our own flesh to distract us from acknowledging Your holiness and faithfulness.  Forgive us for failing to stand ready to witness about Your goodness and love to those who don’t know You.  Forgive us for not telling others about the wonderful miracles that You have performed in our Church Family.  Forgive us for being disobedient and not consistently telling our youth and children about Your loving-kindness and miraculous works.  Forgive us all for our many sins.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed).   Holy Spirit, remind us all of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. Take a moment and the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Exalted King, there is no other god like You! You are the Judge of everyone, both the living and the dead. All glory and power belong to You forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours, and this is Your Kingdom. We adore You as the one who is over all things. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Blameless and Righteous Living

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 19:1-11, Psalm 101

Reflections of the Heart:

As a Church Family, we will live blameless and righteous lives!  We will give our bodies to God because of all He has done for us.  We will let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.  Romans 12:1 NLT

Scriptural Prayer:

Loving Father, we thank You for knowing each of us intimately. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be our Helper and Teacher. Thank You for blessing us socially, academically, relationally and emotionally.  Father, we sing praises to You, our God and strength.  We will sing, beat the tambourine and play the sweet lyre and harp.  Your dwelling place is lovely.  We faint with longing to enter Your courts with our whole beings, bodies and souls.  We will shout joyfully to You, the living God.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how we praise You!  We will praise You as long as we live; we will lift up our hands to You in prayer.  You satisfy us more than the richest feast.  We will praise You with songs of joy.

Sovereign King, as a Church Family, we will seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously.  As we do this, we expect that You will give us everything we need.  As Kingdom citizens, we will not worry about our everyday lives, whether we have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear; for our lives are more than food, and our bodies are more than clothing.  Lord, we will hunger and thirst for justice and be satisfied.  We will be careful to live blameless lives and lead lives of integrity in our own homes.  We will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar.  We will not deal with crooked people.  We will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil.  We will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors, and we will not endure conceit and pride.  Instead, we will search for faithful people to be our companions.  We will not allow deceivers to serve us and liars will not stay in our presence.

Based on Psalm 101, list those areas where change is needed.  Now, ask the Holy Spirit to help you with those specific areas:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, please remove the scales from our eyes and circumcise our hearts so that we can see ourselves reflected in God’s Word.  Remind us that we are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, Your very own possession. Deliver us from the shame and anger that sin create in our hearts and minds.  Remind us that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and that nothing can ever separate us from the Father’s love that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Help us to make Godly choices.  Convict us when we watch, read, listen to and visit internet sites that are ungodly.  Surround us with strong Christian friends who will hold us accountable when we are wrong.  Lead us to people who love Christ more than culture.  Empower our children, youth and young adults to resist peer pressure.  Holy Spirit, as parents, help us to be actively involved in their lives.

Merciful Father, forgive us for all acts of sinfulness, including gossip, backbiting, lying, stealing, pornography, fornication and homosexuality. Forgive those of us who do not value our bodies. As parents and guardians, forgive us for not creating holy environments in our homes and for not living as models of righteousness and integrity. As singles, forgive us for not living celibate lives.  Forgive those who are married for engaging in extra-marital affairs.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to You who sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Declaration of Kingdom Obedience

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 81:1-8, Deuteronomy 8

Reflections of the Heart:

Jesus said, “If you love me, obey my commandments!”  John 14:15

Scriptural Prayer:

Our Father, we thank You for Your love and compassion. Thank You for keeping Your covenant with us throughout the ages. Thank You for making us Your people. Lord, You are compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. Your unfailing love toward those who fear You is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. Let the whole world fear You, Lord.  Let everyone stand in awe of You.  Almighty God, You are so awesome!  Father, You are great and most worthy of praise.  We will praise You at all times and constantly speak of Your praises.

Righteous Father, as a Church Family, we will obey Your commands, walk in Your ways, and fear You.  We confess that Your instructions are perfect, reviving our souls.  Your decrees are trustworthy, making wise the simple. Your commandments are right, bringing joy to our hearts. Your commands are clear, giving insight for living.  Revering You is pure, lasting forever.  Your laws are true and each one is fair. Father, Your Word is more desirable than gold, yes, even the finest gold.  Your Word is sweeter than honey dripping from the honeycomb. Your Word warns us and we expect great reward as we obey it. We declare that as we are willing and obedient to You, we will eat the good of the land. We will seek Your Kingdom above all else, and live righteously, and we know that You will give us everything we need.

Today, I will obey God, Our Father, in the following areas:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Omnipotent Father, please let Your ears be attentive to our prayers.  Holy Spirit, show us individually and collectively where we are consistently missing the mark.  Help us to turn from our areas of disobedience and fully release our whole hearts to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  As a Church Family, help us to continue encouraging each other and building each other up on a regular basis.

Compassionate Father, forgive us for sins of pride, rebellion, disobedience, selfishness, hatred, and idolatry.  Lord, forgive us for half-hearted worship.  Forgive us for at times treating You irreverently.  Forgive us where we have not glorified Your Name and Your Kingdom by our actions and lifestyles.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind each of us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Triumphant Lord, You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the God who is, and who was, and who is still to come – the Almighty One, El Shaddai.  All honor and glory belongs to You, God, forever and ever! You are the eternal King, the unseen One who never dies; You alone are God. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Salvation

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 99, Ephesians 2:1-10

Reflections of the Heart:

“The Blood of Jesus washes away our past and the Name of Jesus opens up our future.” Pastor Jessie Duplantis

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your tender mercies and unfailing love. Thank You for providing a way for sinners to be reconciled back to You. Thank You for enlightening our hearts to say “yes” to You when You called us. Lord, You are very great and Your power is absolute. Your understanding is beyond comprehension. We come clapping our hands and shouting joyful praises to You, our God. Most High, You are awesome. You are the great King of all the earth. We meditate on Your unfailing love as we worship in Your temple. Your Name will be praised to the ends of the earth. We honor You as our Lord and Savior.

Our Father, it is Your desire that all people be saved and understand the truth. We confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only gate by which people are saved. We commit to sharing the Gospel to our unsaved family members, friends, co-workers and enemies. We will not be afraid or intimidated, but we will share the Good News of Jesus Christ with boldness, confidence and love. We declare that when our unsaved family members, friends, co-workers and enemies confess with their mouths, the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that You raised Jesus from the dead, they will be saved. Father, we declare that they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free. As the Body of Christ, we gladly take the great commission and go into the world preaching the Good News to everyone You place in our paths. We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we know that it is Your power that is at work saving everyone who believes.

Gracious Father, we cry out to You to clear the way so that Your Gospel may be preached in every city, state, country, and continent. Since the harvest is plentiful, continue to send laborers to proclaim Your Word of salvation to the unsaved. We ask You to remove the scales that keep them from seeing Your goodness and faithfulness. Surround them with the counsel of the Godly so that they may be washed in the water of Your Word; stripped of the old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds, and put on their new nature so that they will be renewed as they learn to know their Creator and become like Him. Holy Spirit, we ask You to circumcise the hearts of those who are in a backslidden state. Like the prodigal child, help them to come to themselves and return to You, their first love. Remind them that nothing can ever separate them from God’s love; not death, life, angels, demons, fears for today or worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell can separate them from the Father’s love. Help us, the Body of Christ, to present the Gospel with compassion, hope and patience.

List the people that you know who are unsaved or backslidden. Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to witness to these people. Trust Him to give you the courage to approach them and the words to say to them.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Precious Father, forgive the unsaved and backsliders for not acknowledging You or Your Son. Forgive them for disobedience, hatred, rebellion, idolatry, and rejection of Your Gospel. Please have mercy upon them and extend Your grace toward them. Forgive us, the Body of Christ, for not sharing Jesus and the Gospel with more people. Forgive us for being timid and reserved about sharing the Gospel. Forgive us for not reaching out to those who we know are in a backslidden state. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind the unsaved and backslider of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to You, the One sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever. For Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Repentance in the United States of America

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 24, Luke 4:14-19

Scriptural Prayer:

Holy Father, You have blessed our nation beyond measure, but we have not always appreciated You or Your benefits. We, Your children, come before You, humbling ourselves in Your sight to give You thanks and praise for all that You have done. No, we are not deserving nor or we entitled to Your goodness. But, we bow low before You now, and we thank You for having mercy on America. Thank You for the prophets You have sent to warn us that the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. We need Your grace and mercy so much. O Lord God, we are so grateful that You are slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. Who wouldn’t want to serve a God like You?

Generous Father, we, the Body of Christ, submit ourselves to the discernment and judgment of the Holy Spirit. We know that we have grieved Him with our rebellion as we’ve traded truth for lies in pursuit of our own selfish agendas. Your Word warns us that our hearts are the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. We want You to thoroughly search our hearts and examine our secret motives. We decree that as the truth is revealed to us, we will not make any excuses for our failure to be the salt and light that we were called to be. As Your people, called by Your Name, we will humble ourselves and pray, seek Your face, and turn from our wicked ways. Only then can we be assured that You will hear from heaven and will forgive our sins and restore our land. Sincere faith, evidenced by our obedience, is the only thing that will please You. We love You, Father, and our desire is to please You and to glorify You with our lives.

Holy Spirit, please help our nation overcome the following sins (list them):

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, without Your power working in us, we cannot have lasting change. Stir within us the desire to know the Father’s ways, not just His acts. Remind us to think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Help us to put to death any sinful, earthly things that lurk within us. Give us the courage to face ourselves and to admit our sins to the Father and to one another. Strengthen us to let go of anything that blinds us to the truth and keeps us bound. Rid America of corruption and raise up leaders who are wise and who understand God’s ways, proving it by living honorable lives. Help us to identify and follow those spiritual leaders who aren’t just preaching what our itching ears want to hear, but who are doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

Eternal Father, forgive our nation collectively for the sins we have committed against You (confess specific sins of our nation). Forgive us for pretending to love You when our actions show that we are still in love with the world. Forgive those leaders in the Body of Christ who have forfeited the anointing for popularity and pleasure. Forgive us for not taking Your Word seriously. Forgive us for rejecting the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for insulting and rejecting those among us who have tried to speak truth to us. Holy Spirit, remind the people of our nation to forgive and help us all to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our nation not yield to temptation but deliver us all from the evil one.

Holy, holy, holy are You, Lord God, the Almighty – the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come. You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. We exalt You above all else. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Holy Lifestyles

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 100, Romans 1:18-32

Reflections of the Heart:

To be holy means to be cleansed of faults and set apart by God, who is Himself faultless and pure. The Hebrew word translated “holy,” qadash and its derivatives, carry the meaning of “set apart”—sanctified, consecrated, and hallowed. The Greek word translated “holy,” hagios and its derivatives, imply an absence of fault or impurity. The New Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.

Scriptural Prayer:

Loving Father, we thank You for our lives. Thank You for knowing each of us intimately. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be our Helper and Teacher. Thank You for blessing us socially, relationally and emotionally. Father, we sing praises to You, our God and strength. We will sing, beat the tambourine and play the sweet lyre and harp. Your dwelling place is lovely. We faint with longing to enter Your courts with our whole beings, bodies and souls. We will shout joyfully to You, the living God.

Sovereign King, we confess that we will truly understand that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. We will give our bodies to You and will be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind You will find acceptable, for this is truly the way to worship You. We will not copy the illicit behavior and customs of this world, but we will let You, Father, transform us into new people by changing the way we think. As we continue to learn and grow in Your Word, we will know Your will for us, which is good and pleasing and perfect. We will know You and all of Your fullness. We will worship You and be thankful. We will not do vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. We will not trade the truth about You for a lie. We will not worship the things You have created, instead of You, the Creator, and we will not be abandoned to shameful desires. In Jesus’ Name, we cancel every generational curse of perversion. We decree that we will not partake in pornography, fornication, homosexuality, bestiality, or any other sexual perversion.

I commit to removing the following areas of sin from my life:

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, our Deliverer, some of our members are ensnared by the sexual perversions of this world. Please remove the scales from their eyes and circumcise their hearts so that they can see themselves reflected in God’s Word. Remind them that they are a chosen people, royal  priests, a holy nation, Your very own possession. Deliver us all from the shame and anger that perversion and sin creates in our hearts and minds. Remind us all that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and that nothing can ever separate us from the Father’s love that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Help us to make Godly choices.  Convict us when we watch, read, listen to and visit internet sites that are ungodly. Surround us with strong Christian friends who will support us and hold us accountable when we are wrong. Lead us to people who love Christ more than culture.

Merciful Father, forgive us for any sexual sin we have participated in including pornography, fornication, oral sex, homosexuality,  and  taking  inappropriate  pictures  of  ourselves.  Forgive  those  who  do  not  value  their  bodies. Forgive those parents and guardians who have not created holy environments in their homes and lived as models of righteousness and integrity before their children and youth. Forgive those single parents who are not living celibate lives. Forgive those married parents who are engaged in extra-marital affairs. Forgive those parents who are involved with pornography and have made pornographic material accessible to their children  and youth. Forgive us, as the Body of Christ, for turning a blind eye to sin. Forgive us for not openly discussing sexual purity with our youth. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us  all  of  those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to You who sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Healthy Lifestyles

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 135:1-7, Daniel 1:8-16

Reflections of the Heart:

If we are to accomplish all that the Lord has for us to do, we must take care of our physical  bodies. Make a commitment to live a lifestyle that includes healthy eating, exercise and the proper amounts of rest, so you can be the best you can be!

Scriptural Prayer:

Glorious Father, we thank You for life. Thank You for giving us sound minds and bodies. Thank You for giving us the wisdom on how to live healthy lifestyles. We give thanks because You are near. People everywhere  will tell of Your wonderful deeds. Lord, You are good and Your unfailing love endures forever. You are great and You  perform  wonderful  deeds.  You  alone  are  God. How great are Your signs and how powerful are Your wonders. Your Kingdom will last forever,  Your rule through all generations. Lord, You are high above all the nations. Your glory is higher than the heavens.  Who can be compared with You, our God, who is enthroned  on high.

Triumphant Father, we declare that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit who lives in us and was given to us by You. We confess that we will be good stewards over the bodies that You have given to us. Lord, because we realize that the food we put in our bodies can impact our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual capabilities, we declare that we will improve our eating habits and we will include exercise in our daily activities. Father, we declare that we will not increase our blood pressure through worry and anxiety. We decree that we will not worry about anything; instead we will pray about everything. We will tell You what we need and thank You for all that You have already done for us. Then, we will experience Your peace which will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus. Lord, we decree that we will get the proper amount of rest each night when we lie down to sleep. We will sleep in peace; for You alone will keep us safe. We boldly declare that we will live the rich and satisfying life that Christ Jesus came to give us.

Holy Spirit, show me what lifestyle changes I need to make and help me to yield control to You, so I can accomplish these changes:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy  Spirit, please help us to prioritize our days so that we can include exercise.  God’s Word tells us that a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Please help each of us to develop a cheerful disposition. Help us to enjoy life and laugh more. Help  us to find healthy, holy activities  that will help us to relax. Remind each of us to eat our fruits and vegetables and to drink plenty of water daily.

Merciful Father, forgive us for not taking care of our bodies. Forgive us for activities and habits that have been detrimental to our health including smoking, excessive drinking, poor eating habits, not exercising, not drinking water and not getting enough sleep. Forgive us for worrying about the cares of life instead of trusting You to care for us. Forgive us for causing physical harm to our bodies by walking in unforgiveness and bitterness. Forgive us for passing unhealthy lifestyles on to the generations after us. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.) Holy Spirit, remind each of us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are the only true God. You are the living God and the everlasting King! You made the earth by Your power and preserve it by Your wisdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for a Disciplined Lifestyle

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 148, I Corinthians 9:24-27

Reflections of the Heart:

Discipline is developed and guided by decision. As a child of God, the decisions you make on a daily basis will determine the strength of your self-discipline. But, be well aware that the power to align your will with the will of the Father is endowed only by the Holy Spirit. Without Him, discipline (that bears eternal benefit) cannot take shape in your life.

Scriptural Prayer:

Loving Father, we thank You for Jesus. Thank You for working in us; giving us the desire and the power to do what please You. We give You thanks, O Lord, with all our hearts. We will sing Your praises. We bow before Your  holy  Temple  as  we  worship.  We  praise  Your  Name  for  Your  unfailing  love  and  faithfulness,  for  Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your Name. As soon as we pray, You answer us. You encourage us by giving us strength.

Divine Father, apart from Jesus, the True Vine, we can do nothing. We realize that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We do not belong to ourselves for You bought us with a high price, so we must honor You with our bodies. As true disciples of Jesus Christ, we will remain faithful to His teachings. We know the truth, and the truth as set us free. We will remain strong and immovable. We understand the impact of our influence on others, therefore we make a decision today to live in such a way that will not cause another believer to stumble and fall. Father, we declare that we listen to Your voice. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we take authority over our minds, wills, and emotions because we are surrounded by a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith. Therefore, we strip off every weight that slows us down; especially the sin that easily trips us up. And we declare that we will run  with  endurance  the  race  that  You  have  set  before  us.  We  will  do  this  by  keeping  our eyes on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects our faith.

Holy Spirit, today I will  commit  to  developing  greater spiritual discipline by doing  the following  (write down the Holy Spirit’s instructions to you):

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, remind us that the Father has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. We ask You to guide our lives so that we won’t do what our sinful nature craves. Give us desires that are opposite of what our sinful nature desires so that we can remain faithful to the calling of God on our lives. Show us how to develop an ear to hear You when You speak the Father’s will to us and help us to be quick to obey. Whenever we are in danger of backsliding into our old ways, please help us to remember that we are the salt and light to this world.

Precious Father, forgive us of our sins. Forgive us for neglecting and rejecting spiritual discipline in our personal lives. Forgive us for straying away and leaving Your righteousness to follow our own sinfulness. Forgive us for being foolish and prideful. Forgive us for failing to hide Your Word in our hearts on a regular basis to safeguard ourselves from sinning against You. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind  us  of  those  we  need  to  forgive  and  help  us  to  be  quick  to  forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

God, You are honored in Judah. Your Name is great in Israel. Jerusalem is where You live and Mount Zion is Your home. Salvation comes from You, the God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to You forever and ever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
