April 21: A Prayer of Repentance

Loving Father, thank You for providing this special time of year for us to examine our lives. Thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. Thank You for sometimes allowing us to suffer afflictions and trials, for You are always faithful to bring us out with a greater knowledge of who we are in Christ. Thank You for the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us to lead and guide us every day. How good it is when we come together as a Body of Christ to sing praises to You! Throughout our lives, You have been faithful to heal our broken hearts and bandage our wounds. You support the humble, but bring the wicked down into the dust. We sing out our thanks to You, Lord. Your delight is in those who fear You; who put our hope in Your unfailing love. We give You glory! You have truly blessed us within our own homes. You send peace across our nation and satisfy our hunger with the finest wheat. We praise You, Lord!

Heavenly Father, we know that only those whose hands and hearts are pure can stand in Your Holy presence. We cannot worship idols and we must never tell lies. We know that if we want to receive Your blessing, we must first have right relationship with You. We are intentionally taking the time to examine ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to show us where we have sinned. As the Body of Christ, we prepare our hearts and lift up our hands to You in prayer. We denounce our sins and leave our iniquity behind us. As we repent, we expect our faces to brighten with innocence.  We will be strong and free of fear. Misery has to flow away from us like water and our righteousness is brighter than the noonday. We look forward to being in Your presence. Father, we come before You, running with purpose in every step, not just shadowboxing. We commit to discipline ourselves to do what we should so that our witness to those who do not know You will not be disqualified.

I am not perfect, but I know that I can do better in the following areas of my life:

Holy Spirit, in our own strength, our efforts to change are futile. We ask You to help us release total control of our lives into Your hands. With Your help we can overcome our sinful ways. Lead us daily and remind us that we have been bought with a high price. Remind us of the spiritual laws You have taught us and help us to store the Father’s commands in our hearts. Help us to trust in You with all our hearts and get away from depending on our own understanding. Remind us to seek the Father’s will in all that we do. Help us not to be impressed with our own wisdom, but instead, strengthen us to fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

Holy Spirit, show me the sins that have a foothold in my life. (List those areas). I will take the following actions to break sin’s hold on my life:

Merciful Father, forgive us collectively and individually for the sins that we have committed against You. Forgive us for being prideful and deceiving ourselves. Forgive us for repeatedly making empty promises to You. Forgive us for being so quick to rush into sin. Forgive us for spending more time watching TV, texting, tweeting, and talking on Facebook, than praying, reading Your Word, and manifesting Your Kingdom by helping others. Forgive us for behaving disrespectfully toward our spiritual leaders when they rebuke our disobedience. Forgive us for lying, gossiping, and holding grudges against our brothers and sisters in Christ. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show You names or faces of people that You may need to forgive. As He shows You, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Magnificent King, You count all the stars and call them all by name. You are great and Your power is absolute. Your understanding is beyond comprehension! All glory to You alone, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are Yours before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

March 30: A Prayer for Health Care in the United States

Glorious Father, we thank You for the blood of Jesus which covers us and protects us from harm, including disease. Thank You for blessing our nation with the best medical care in the world. Thank You for being the Lord who heals!  Lord, we will sing of Your unfailing love forever!  Young and old will hear of Your faithfulness.  Your unfailing love will last forever.  Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.  All of heaven will praise Your great wonders, myriads of angels will praise You for Your faithfulness.  Who in all of heaven can compare with You, Lord?  What mightiest angel is anything like You?  The highest angelic powers stand in awe of You.  You are far more awesome than all who surround Your throne!

Redeeming Father, we commit the American Health Care system to You and command justice to run down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream for the American people.  We thank You for every health care professional and declare that they will seek Your wisdom and knowledge and always pursue excellence in their chosen fields. They will be dedicated to the proper care and treatment of their patients and they will remember to show their patients mercy, just as You have shown mercy to them. Lord, You detest the use of dishonest scales, but You delight in accurate weights.  So we rebuke the spirits of greed and injustice within the insurance industry that has prevented many Americans from being able to afford quality health coverage that will meet their family’s needs without bankrupting their budget.  Your Word admonishes that everything should be done properly and in order so we command the American health care system to line up with Your Word now, in Jesus’ Name.

List your concerns about the American Health Care System.  Now take those concerns to the Lord in prayer:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, please give the uninsured the wisdom and direction as they navigate through the Affordable Care Act and help them to find coverage that will meet their budget.  Show business owners new ways to generate increased revenue to cover the cost of offering health insurance to their employees.  Lord, we ask that the wait times for appointments at the VA Hospital will be shortened and that each veteran will be treated with dignity and respect.  Holy Spirit, we ask that You give our government officials the wisdom on how to cut down on the redtape that ensnares so many veterans from receiving all of the medical benefits they are entitled to. Lord, touch the hearts of the pharmaceutical companies so that they will make needed medications affordable to all Americans.  Lord, we cry out for Your intervention and guidance in Jesus’ Name.

Loving Father, forgive us as a nation for our many sins.   Lord, forgive us for creating a society that allows such a wide disparity between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots.’  Forgive us for greed, arrogance, lack of empathy and compassion, and selfishness.   Forgive us for not making a healthy lifestyle a priority.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation; but deliver us all from the evil one.

Glorious King, Your eternal Word stands firm in heaven.  Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth You created.  Your regulations remain true to this day, for everything serves Your plans.  You are the mighty King, the lover of justice; You established fairness.  You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel.  We exalt You Lord, our God and bow low before Your feet for You are Holy!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

March 9: A Prayer for Incarcerated Youth and Adults

Worthy Father, we thank You for being a God of grace and mercy.  Thank You for protecting our friends, family members and loved ones who are incarcerated.  Thank You for Your faithful love which endures forever. Lord of Heaven’s Armies, You are our strength and our song; You have given us victory!  You are our God and we will praise You.  Lord, You are a warrior; Yahweh is Your Name.  Your right hand is glorious in power and smashes the enemy.  O Lord, who is like You among the gods?  You are glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor and You perform great wonders.

Forgiving Father, we commit our incarcerated loved ones to You.  We confess that as they trust in You and give You their lives that You will be with them and not allow them to be disgraced nor will You let their enemies rejoice in their defeat.  We declare that You will show our incarcerated youth and adults the right path and point out the road for them to follow.  We decree that they will be obedient and allow Your truth to lead and teach them.  We confess that it is in You and You alone that they will put their hope.  We declare a hedge of protection around our loved ones and that no weapon formed against them will prosper.  They will not follow the advice of the wicked, nor stand around with sinners, neither will they join in with mockers.  But, they will delight in Your Word, Father, and meditate on it day and night.  We confess that You, Lord, will be their refuge and their place of safety.  They will be rescued from every trap that is laid before them and protected from deadly disease.  They will not fear the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day.  We confess that they will lie down and sleep at night and wake up in safety because You are watching over them.  In all that they say and do, we declare that they will let their light shine so that those around them will see their good works and glorify You, their Father in heaven.  For those youth and adults who do not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we confess that they will receive the Good News of the Gospel and confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in their hearts that You raised Christ from the dead, so that they will be saved.

List the youth or adults that you know who are incarcerated and commit to praying for them this month:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, we ask that You will encourage those who have become discouraged. Remind them that the Father is forever with them, for He will never leave nor abandon them.  For those who have been wrongfully imprisoned, we ask that You would bring truth and revelation to their cases and open doors for them to be released.  Please strengthen their faith in the Father and draw them closer to Him.  Please comfort, strengthen and encourage the family members, especially the children whose parent is incarcerated.  Heal their hearts and mend any wound that the absence of this parent has created in their life.  Please protect them from the evil words and comments that society may attempt to put upon them.  Please destroy every generational cycle of incarceration within our families and community.  Please create within the Body of Christ a heart of compassion to minister to those who are incarcerated and to their families.

Faithful Father, we ask You to forgive the sins of those who are incarcerated.  Forgive them for making wrong choices and bad decisions.  Forgive them for trusting in their ways instead of Yours.  Forgive those who hold anger, bitterness and resentment.  Forgive our judicial system for wrongfully imprisoning the innocent.  Forgive those of us who have judged them wrongfully.  Forgive those of us who have helped them make poor choices by not teaching them Your ways.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our incarcerated youth and adults of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help them to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Almighty Lord, You alone are God.  You are the First and the Last.  It was Your hand that laid the foundations of the earth; Your right hand spread out the heavens above.  When You call the stars, they all appear in order.  You are holy, holy, holy, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies; the whole earth is filled with Your glory.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

March 6: A Prayer for Holy Lifestyles

Loving Father, we thank You for our lives. Thank You for knowing each of us intimately. Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to be our Helper and Teacher. Thank You for blessing us socially, relationally and emotionally.  Father, we sing praises to You, our God and strength. We will sing, beat the tambourine and play the sweet lyre and harp.  Your dwelling place is lovely.  We faint with longing to enter Your courts with our whole beings, bodies and souls.  We will shout joyfully to You, the living God.

Sovereign King, we confess that we will truly understand that our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit. We will give our bodies to You and will be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind You will find acceptable, for this is truly the way to worship You. We will not copy the illicit behavior and customs of this world, but we will let You, Father, transform us into new people by changing the way we think.  As we continue to learn and grow in Your Word, we will know Your will for us, which is good and pleasing and perfect.  We will know You and all of Your fullness. We will worship You and be thankful. We will not do vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. We will not trade the truth about You for a lie. We will not worship the things You have created, instead of You, the Creator, and we will not be abandoned to shameful desires. In Jesus’ Name, we cancel every generational curse of perversion. We decree that we will not partake in pornography, fornication, homosexuality, bestiality, or any other sexual perversion.

I commit to removing the following areas of sin from my life:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, our Deliverer, some of our members are ensnared by the sexual perversions of this world.  Please remove the scales from their eyes and circumcise their hearts so that they can see themselves reflected in God’s Word. Remind them that they are a chosen people, royal priests, a holy nation, Your very own possession.  Deliver us all from the shame and anger that perversion and sin creates in our hearts and minds.  Remind us all that there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus and that nothing can ever separate us from the Father’s love that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  Help us to make Godly choices. Convict us when we watch, read, listen to and visit internet sites that are ungodly.  Surround us with strong Christian friends who will support us and hold us accountable when we are wrong.  Lead us to people who love Christ more than culture.

Merciful Father, forgive us for any sexual sin we have participated in including pornography, fornication, oral sex, homosexuality, and taking inappropriate pictures of ourselves.  Forgive those who do not value their bodies. Forgive those parents and guardians who have not created holy environments in their homes and lived as models of righteousness and integrity before their children and youth. Forgive those single parents who are not living celibate lives. Forgive those married parents who are engaged in extra-marital affairs. Forgive those parents who are involved with pornography and have made pornographic material accessible to their children and youth. Forgive us, as the Body of Christ, for turning a blind eye to sin.  Forgive us for not openly discussing sexual purity with our youth. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, You are the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.  Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to You who sits on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Repentance

A Prayer of Repentance

Scripture Reading:

Jeremiah 10:6-16, Matthew 3:1-2, II Corinthians 7:9-10

Reflections of the Heart:

It is empowering to know that birth into the Kingdom of God is available to anyone by hearing the call to salvation, choosing to reject and repent of sin, and turning away from sin toward Christ Jesus as personal Lord and Savior. That is repentance unto God’s good work.

Scriptural Prayer:

Father God, You hear and attend to our prayer because we come in submission according to Your Word. From the ends of the earth, we cry to You for help when our hearts are overwhelmed. Your Word leads us to the towering rock of safety, for You are our safe refuge, a fortress where our enemies cannot reach us. We will live forever in Your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings. We will praise You, Lord, with our whole heart. Heavenly Father, we thank You for men and women messengers who teach Your Word of repentance. We are grateful that when we are converted, our sins are wiped away so that times of refreshment may come from the presence of the Lord. Thank You for loving us in spite of our faults.

Heavenly Father, You have given clear instruction to Your people, from John the Baptist, throughout Jesus’ ministry, in the disciples’ ministry during Jesus’ time on earth and throughout Acts. Without acting on Your Word of repentance, salvation is retarded. Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Jesus prophesied this same message would be taken to the ends of the world, commissioning His disciples  to do this ministry of repentance and promising the power of the Holy Spirit to help fulfill God’s work. Father God, we know that You require repentance to be baptized into the body of Christ – into Your family. When Jesus began to preach after being tempted of the devil, He said, “Repent of your sins and turn to God for the kingdom of heaven is near.” The inauguration of Your ongoing grace offers salvation to anyone who has faith in the Name of Jesus. Repentance from sin is the first step toward being redeemed from death to eternal life for the Gospel is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes. In it, Your righteousness is revealed from faith to faith. As it is written, the just shall live by faith.

Holy Spirit, inspire Christian men and women who will not be ashamed to pursue excellence in Christ and spread the Good News of repentance and belief in the Gospel of Your Kingdom. Father, You have told us that everyone has sinned. We all fall short of Your glorious standard. Therefore, we ask now that the Holy Spirit will always counsel us to recognize our sins and inspire us to repent and turn from evil, as You have commanded us to do. We will do this because we know that You will not reject a broken and repentant heart.  Let it be unto us according to Your Word.

Holy Spirit, reveal to me sins hidden in my heart for which I need to repent:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Merciful Father, forgive the ignorance tolerated by the children of Your kingdom who have not been taught, or who have refused to submit to learn, the importance of repentance. Forgive those who have evil thoughts when they repent of their wickedness. Forgive us for half-hearted worship.  Forgive us for stubbornness, rebellion, and arrogance.  Forgive us for disobedience.  Although You may become weary with our repenting, we know that You will forgive us, even seven times seventy in a day if need be, for You have taught us to continually forgive our neighbor.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Father, help us to not yield to temptation but, deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty God, You are so gracious to Your people. You restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts. You take no pleasure in the death of anyone. Praise to our Rock! May the God of our salvation be exalted! In the precious Name of Jesus, Amen!

Another Prayer for Salvation

Another Prayer for Salvation

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 104, Hosea 14

Reflections of the Heart:

Jesus said, “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do?  Will he not leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away!  In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.”  Matthew 18:12-14

Scriptural Prayer

Heavenly Father, You are great and Your power is absolute. Your understanding is beyond comprehension.  We come clapping our hands and shouting joyful praises to You, our God.  Most High, You are awesome!  You are the great King of all the earth.  We meditate on Your unfailing love as we worship in Your temple.  Your Name will be praised to the ends of the earth. We honor You, as our Lord and Savior.  We thank You, Lord, for Your tender mercies and unfailing love. Thank You for providing a way for sinners to be reconciled back to You.  Thank You for enlightening our hearts to say “yes” to You when You called us.  Lord, You are very great.

Father, it is Your desire that all men be saved and understand the truth.  We confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  He is the only gate by which people are saved.  We declare that when our unsaved family members, friends and enemies confess with their mouths, the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that You raised Jesus from the dead, they will be saved.  Father, we declare that they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free.  We gladly take the great commission and go into the world preaching the Good News to everyone You place in our paths.  We confess that we are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we know that it is Your power, God, that is at work saving everyone who believes.

Father, we cry out to You to clear the way so that Your Gospel may be preached in every city, state, country, and continent.  Since the harvest is plentiful, please send laborers to proclaim Your Word of salvation to the unsaved.  We ask You to save our unsaved family members, friends, co-workers and enemies.  Surround them with the counsel of the godly so that they may be washed in the water of Your Word; strip off the old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds, put on their new nature, so that they will be renewed as they learn to know their Creator and become like Him.  Holy Spirit, as the Word goes forth, please touch the hearts of the unsaved to receive it.  Help us, the body of Christ, to present the Gospel with love, hope and patience.  Father, we ask You to remove the scales from their eyes and circumcise the hearts of those who are in a backslidden state.  Like the prodigal child, help them to come to themselves and return to You, their first love.  Holy Spirit, remind them that nothing can ever separate them from God’s love; not death, life, angels, demons,  fears for today or worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell can separate them from the Father’s love.

List the people that you know who are unsaved or backslidden.  Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to witness to these people.  Trust Him to give you the courage to approach them and the words to say to them.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, forgive the unsaved and backsliders for not acknowledging You or Your Son.  Forgive them for disobedience, hatred, rebellion, murder, idolatry, homosexuality, greed, racism, adultery, fornication, injustice, violence, and rejection of Your Gospel.  Please have mercy upon them and extend Your grace toward them.  Forgive us as a Church Family for not sharing Jesus and the Gospel with more people.  Forgive us for being timid and reserved about sharing the Gospel.  Forgive us for not reaching out to those who we know are in a backslidden state.  Lord, remind all of us of those persons we need to forgive, and please help us to forgive.

Help us to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Holy, Holy, Holy, are You, the Lord God Almighty.  You are worthy, to receive glory, honor and power.  To You, the blessed and only Almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. You alone can never die, and You live in light so brilliant that no human can approach You.  To You be all honor and power forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Forgiveness and Forgiving Others

A Prayer for Forgiveness and Forgiving Others

Scripture Reading:

Nehemiah 9:6-15, Matthew 6:9-15

Reflections of the Heart:

When we ask God to forgive us, what do we really expect?  He said He would cast our sins into the sea of forgetfulness and never remember them.  Do we believe this?  Today, trust the Lord to purge you with His hyssop and wash You whiter than snow.  He said He would forgive us.  As you admit any wrongdoing, confess them with the confidence of knowing that God loves you and He wants what is best for you.

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, we honor You and we bless You.  With all our souls and all that is within us, we bless Your holy Name.  It is You, Father, who crowns us with love and tender mercies and You fill our lives with good things.  We give thanks to You and proclaim Your greatness.  Lord, we will let the whole world know what You have done.  We will sing to You the praises due Your Name and tell everyone about Your wonderful deeds.  Thank You, Father, for loving us, forgiving us and saving us.  Thank You for being patient with us. Your compassion towards us is unfailing and Your mercies are new every morning.  Lord, Your faithfulness is great towards us.

Father, Your Word tells us that if we forgive those who have sinned against us, then You, our Heavenly Father, will forgive us.  But, if we refuse to forgive others, You will not forgive us of our sins.  Today we choose to forgive. Father, we declare that we will be patient with people and forgive those who have offended us.   I forgive                for                           , and I release them and let it go.  Father, forgive me for my sins.  You said that if I confess my sins to You, You are faithful and just to forgive me and cleanse me from all wickedness.  Therefore, Father, please forgive me for _________________.

Holy Spirit, help all of us to forgive people who have hurt us.  Heal our emotions that have been wounded and teach us how to love unconditionally.  Continue to extend Your love and mercy toward us.  Please remind us daily to use Your power living on the inside of us which helps us in all things.  Lord, help us to forget the past so that we can move forward to the future as we press toward the mark of our higher calling in Christ Jesus.

Father, please forgive us for not being forgiving. Forgive us for thinking evil thoughts, and seeking revenge against people who have offended us.  Forgive us for hatred and for not walking in love.  Forgive us for gossiping, lying and for rehearsing in our minds what was said or done to us.  Lord, remind us of those persons we need to forgive, and help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

God, You are a mighty fortress. You are subject to none, yet, all are subject to You.  You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  You are the God who is, and was, and who is to come.  To You, the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Repentance for Houston and the United States

A Prayer of Repentance for Houston and the United States

Scripture Reading:

Jeremiah 10:6-16, Psalm 51

Reflections of the Heart:

The true calling of an intercessor is to cry out on behalf of those who cannot cry out for themselves.  As intercessors for the city of Houston, let us raise our voices and cry out on behalf of our city, state and the nation.  The effectual, fervent prayers of the righteous avail much!

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, our hearts rejoice in You; our strength is exalted in You.  We can smile at our enemies because we rejoice in Your salvation.  No one is holy like You, Father.  There is none besides You, nor is there any rock like You, our God.  Lord, we praise You with our whole hearts.  In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation, we will praise You.  Your works are honorable and glorious and Your righteousness endures forever.  The works of Your hands are truth and justice.  Thank You, Father, for the gift of forgiveness and repentance.  Thank You for saving us and giving us eternal life.  Thank You for thinking thoughts of peace towards us.  Thank You for designing a future for us that is full of hope and not evil.

Father, You sent Your Son, Jesus, so that we may have abundant life.  It has always been Your intention to be our Father, our Savior, our Lord, and our Friend.  We were created because You wanted companionship.  You want all to be well with us.  You have always wanted us to succeed and enjoy our lives on earth with You.  It was for Your good pleasure that You gave us Your Kingdom and all of its blessings.  Most of all, You want us to love You and be in relationship with You.  As for me, I love You and I confess that Jesus is Lord of my life.  I do believe in my heart that You raised Jesus from the dead.  I renounce satan, and all of his works and influences.  I am a new creation in Christ Jesus and the old things have passed away from me; and now all things have become brand new.   We confess that as a city and a nation we have sinned against You and done wrong.  We have rebelled against You and scorned Your commands and regulations.  We come crying out with repentant hearts on behalf of the Greater Houston Metropolitan Area, the state of Texas and the United States.  We are Your people who are called by Your Name, we come humbling ourselves, praying, seeking Your face and turning from our wicked ways.  As we do this, we trust that You will hear from heaven, forgive the sins of city, state and nation and restore our land.

Today, we ask that You hear our prayers as we repent and seek Your forgiveness.  Holy Spirit, make our hearts more sensitive to You and Your Word.  Father, please forgive our sins and cleanse us of our unrighteousness.  As for me, Lord, show me those things in my life that are not pleasing to You.  Father, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.  Father, help me to face those things within me that are not pleasing to You and send people who can help me in the areas of my life that are lacking.

Holy Spirit, show me what specific area you would have me to repent for on behalf of the city of Houston:

Father, forgive us for not trusting Your Word and implementing Your principles into our daily lives.  Forgive us for not loving our neighbors or ourselves.  Lord, please forgive us for not being fair and just.  Forgive us for not looking out for the widow and the fatherless.  Forgive us for worshipping other gods and religions.  Forgive those of us for not paying our tithes and offerings.  Please forgive us for stubbornness, rebellion, idolatry, adultery, fornication, lying, stealing, backbiting, gossiping, slander, witchcraft, sorcery, drunkenness, jealousy, selfish ambitions, lewdness, uncleanness, dissensions, heresies, and fighting.  Forgive us for pride and arrogance, devising wicked plans, and creating discord with other people.   Father, forgive me where I have caused others to fall.  Forgive me for any actions that have harmed others or hindered them from knowing You better.  Lord, remind us all of those persons we need to forgive; and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are great.  You are above all gods.  In heaven and the earth, in the seas and in all deep places, You do whatever pleases You. Your way is perfect and Your word is proven.  You are a shield to all who trust in You.  Who is the King of glory?  You are the King of glory and the Lord of hosts.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
