A Prayer For Immigrant Families Along The U.S. Border

Gracious Father, we thank You for the signing of the executive order for immigrant families to stay together.  Thank You for being concerned for all humanity, including immigrant families.  Thank You for Your presence, love and mercy towards these families.  Lord God, Your ways are perfect.  All of Your promises prove true.  You are a shield for all who look to You for protection.  There is no God except You, Lord.  You are a solid rock.

Righteous Father, we command justice to continue to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream for the immigrant families entrenched in the current atrocity that separated children from their parents in America!  Lord, we rebuke the spirits of obstinance, chaos, and confusion and command peace to be still in the processing of these families.  Lord, continue to hear the cries of these families and rescue them from trouble.  We expect that You will meet their needs speedily from Your glorious riches which have been given in Christ Jesus.

Holy Spirit, help President Donald Trump and Congress to reach a scriptural resolution for this issue.  Give them no rest until it is done!  Touch the hearts of the United States Border Patrol men and women and help them to treat the families, especially the children, fairly and with compassion.  Remind them of the legacy of America in which many families have found better economic opportunities and refuge throughout history.  Lord, please have mercy on our nation!  Convict the hearts of those who are preying on the fears of these families to manipulate them.  As the Body of Christ, please show us what actions we are to take and how we are to extend Your love and grace to these families.

Abba Father, forgive our leaders for the dehumanizing and unscriptural acts of separating immigrant families. Holy Spirit, help our nation to be forgiving.

Holy Spirit, help our citizens not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.\

Triumphant God, You are King!  The mountains melt like wax before You, Lord.  The heavens proclaim Your righteousness; every nation sees Your glory!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 8: A Prayer for Single Parents

Almighty Father, we thank You for the joy of parenthood. We thank You for fulfilling Your plans and purposes in our lives and for surrounding us with favor like a shield. We give thanks to You, Lord, and proclaim Your greatness. We will let the whole world know what You have done.  For Your love remains forever with those who fear You. Your salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to Your covenant, of those who obey Your commandments!

Father God, we declare that our single parents are joyful because they trust You with all of their hearts and do not depend on their own understanding of parenthood.  They seek Your will in all that they do and we know that You will continue to show them which path to take concerning their children. Heavenly Father, we confess Your Word of truth over all single parents, that they will discipline, teach and train their children with love and patience just as You, Lord, discipline, teach and train those You love.  We declare that the boys in our Church Family will flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants and our daughters will be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.

Holy Spirit, please help those single parents who are struggling in their relationships with their children to remain joyful. Help them all to live before their children in a way that mirrors God’s Word so that their children will not see them as hypocrites and turn away from the love of Christ. Lord, help our single parents to not grow tired or weary, but to trust You to provide the strength and wisdom that they need. Help us all to see our children as a gift and reward from the Lord. Holy Spirit, increase our patience for our families, so that we live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, as a single parent, I ask You to help me with the following:

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Loving Father, forgive our single parents for sin, including bitterness, resentment, fornication, envy, strife, unkindness, rebellion, deception, doubt, fear, economic mismanagement, poor parenting and oppression. Holy Spirit, remind all single parents to seek Your forgiveness when they respond in anger to the challenges they face with their children.  Forgive those who inflict harm or cause their children to turn away from the teaching of Your Word.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind all single parents of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help all single parents to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord God, You have made the heavens Your throne; from there You rule over everything. We praise You with the angels, the mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listening for each of Your commands. Yes, we praise You, Lord, with the armies of angels who serve You and do Your will!  We praise You, Lord God, for everything You have created, everything in all Your Kingdom.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 19: A Prayer for Our Fathers

Triumphant Father, we thank You for the fathers in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for reminding them daily that they are created in Your image.  Thank You for crowning each of them with glory and honor.  Thank You for helping them to take their rightful place as the head of their homes.  We, Your servants, give praise to You, Lord.  Your Name will be blessed now and forever!  Everywhere from east to west, Your Name shall be praised.  Lord, You are high above the nations; Your glory is higher than the heavens.  No one can be compared with You!  Not to us, O Lord, but all glory will go to Your Name for Your unfailing love and Your faithfulness.

Majestic Father, by faith, we declare that the fathers in the Body of Christ are saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. They are priestly providers and protectors of their families.  We confess that our fathers will not copy the behavior and customs of this world; but they will allow You, Lord, to transform them into new men by changing the way they think.  We decree that our fathers are the head and not the tail; they are always on top and never at the bottom.  They are not victims of society; but they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.  Their children will honor them; for this is right in Your sight.  We confess that our fathers will not provoke their children to anger by the way they treat them; but they will raise them with the discipline and instruction that comes from You, our Heavenly Father.  Above all, we confess that our fathers have victorious futures because Your plans for them are of hope, filled with good and not evil.  We decree that the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are evident in their lives.  The light of Jesus is reflected in their actions.  We confess that our fathers are mighty men of valor.

I will pray for the following fathers in the Body of Christ this month:

Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill our fathers with the knowledge of Your Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Please order their days so that their daily activities are balanced and fruitful.  Make the crooked places in their lives straight and perfect those things that concern them.  Help each father to not grieve Your Spirit. Teach them how to develop the individual spiritual gifts and talents of their children.  Restore the broken or struggling relationships between fathers and children. Increase Your love in those father/child(ren) relationships that are doing well.  Holy Spirit, comfort those who have experienced the death of their father and equip us as the Body of Christ to provide the support that they may need.

Faithful Father, forgive our fathers for sins of disobedience, selfishness, and lying.  Forgive our wives and mothers for taking on the roles You have ordained for husbands and fathers. Forgive us as a society for focusing on the fathers who are not living up to their responsibilities while ignoring those who are taking care of their families. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our fathers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our fathers to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Exalted Lord, we praise Your Name.  Your Name is great; Your glory towers over the earth and heaven.  You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things; by your will they exist and were created.  You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 30: A Prayer for Wives Who are Desiring To Get Pregnant

Our Father, we thank You for the blessing of children and family. Thank You for each wife who stands in faithful expectancy of a child to hold in her arms. Thank You for Your creative power which is able to open closed wombs and cause them to thrive with new life. We will praise You, Lord, with all our hearts. We will tell of all the marvelous things You have done. We will be filled with joy because of You, and we will sing praises to Your Name, O Most High. May Your glorious Name be praised! May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!

Exalted Father, we believe that just as You were attentive to Hannah’s pleas for help, You hear the cries of every wife who longs to become a mother. We, the Body of Christ, declare that their prayers will not go unanswered, for You promised that You would withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. We confess that these wives will not grow weary and lose hope. In Jesus Name, we declare that bodies of each husband and wife in the Body of Christ are whole and complete, lacking nothing. We confess that they have victory over doubt, fear, and unbelief. We believe that You will connect them with those people who will love and support them as they trust You for children of their own. We decree that they will be parents who are full of wisdom and patience. They will train their children up in the way they should go, and when their children are old they will not depart from it. These expectant couples will do all they can to nurture their marriages so that the atmosphere of their home will be ready to receive children into a loving, peaceful environment.

May 24: A Prayer of Protection for Our Children and Youth

Righteous Father, we are so grateful that You are all-seeing and all-knowing. You have Your eye on each and every person on this earth, including our children and youth. Thank You for faithfully watching over them every day. We thank You for keeping Your angels stationed around them day and night. Thank You, Lord, for guarding their lives in the face of seen and unseen dangers. Father, we give You glory. You are in Your holy Temple, yet You still rule from heaven. You watch everyone closely, examining every person on earth. We lift our hands and worship You, for You Yourself watch over our children and youth. You stand beside them as their protective shade.  All praises to You, our Father and our God!

Awesome Father, when our children and youth are at home, You are there.  When they are in school, You are there. Wherever they go, You are there. We believe in the power of Your Word, so we commit ourselves to declaring blessings over our children and youth every day. In the Name of Jesus, we rebuke every foul plot of the enemy to harass, bully, injure, harm, or kidnap our children and youth. The blood of Jesus covers them and guards their steps. We declare that our children and youth live in the shelter of the Most High, and they find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. You alone are their refuge and their place of safety. You are their God, and they trust You. Lord, we expect You to rescue them from every trap (drugs, alcohol, crime, and abuse), and protect them from deadly disease. You promised that You will cover them with Your feathers. You will shelter them with Your wings. These promises are their armor and their protection.

Holy Spirit, help parents to act responsibly when it comes to the welfare of their children. Keep them from being distracted by work, bills, relationships, and other issues. Help them to be open to correction and instruction if they are lacking in good, balanced parenting skills. Lord, help us all to be shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves in the handling of our children and youth.  Give us the courage to take action when we see warning signs of impending danger around them. Help us to come together in our communities to cover those children who are runaways and castaways. Empower our law enforcement officers, social workers, attorneys, child advocates, and court judges with the ability to bring to justice those who perpetrate crimes against children and youth. Bring strong conviction upon the hearts of those who have offended our children and youth, and bring them to the point of repentance and deliverance so that they can receive the grace and redemption that Jesus made possible for all mankind.

List the names of any children and youth who are or may be in danger and pray for them. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can be of help:

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Blessed Father, forgive us for our sins, especially those we have committed against our children and youth. Forgive those who discourage and demean our children and youth.  Forgive those who refuse to do their part to protect our children and youth.  Forgive those parents and guardians who refuse to seek help for their children when they are spiraling out of control. Forgive those in the Body of Christ who judge and ostracize our children and youth instead of seeking to understand them and showing them love. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Magnificent Father, no one is holy like You! There is no one besides You. There is no rock like our God. You are the Lord, the Mighty One, who has spoken and summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets. From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, You shine in glorious radiance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 20: A Prayer for Students Taking Final Exams

Majestic Father, we thank You for our students who are preparing for Final Exams. Thank You for crowning each of them with wisdom and honor. Thank You for the educators who have a genuine interest in seeing our children and youth succeed. O God, You are our God; we earnestly search for You.  Our souls thirst for You; our bodies long for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water.  We have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how we praise You!  We will praise You as long as we live.  We will lift up our hands to You in prayer.  You satisfy us more than the richest feast.  With songs of joy will we praise You.

Royal Father, we confess that our students are well versed in every area of learning; gifted with knowledge and good judgment. We declare that just as You anointed Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego with an unusual aptitude for understanding every aspect of literature and wisdom, that You will anoint our students to excel in their academics and to conquer their Final Exams. We decree that our students understand the value of knowledge; they understand that wisdom is more profitable than silver and her wages are better than gold.  We confess that they will not be anxious about these tests, but they will pray and tell You what they need. They will thank You for all that You have done for them; then they will experience Your peace which exceeds anything they can understand. We declare that our students can do everything through Christ, including excelling on these Final Exams, because You give them strength.  We expect that as they study and apply themselves to their academics, that Holy Spirit, You will bring all things to their remembrance when they sit down to begin their Final Exams.  We decree that our students are the head and not the tail; they will always be on top and will never be at the bottom academically.

Holy Spirit, please help our students to hunger and thirst after knowledge.  Help them to shed every false label, expectation and preconceived notion that society has placed upon them. Help them to see themselves as more than conquerors in every aspect of their lives. Holy Spirit, please help our parents and guardians to understand how important it is for them to have an active role in their child’s education. Show them how to partner with their student’s teachers to encourage and help their child to learn. Lead and guide our students to scholarship and grant opportunities to help pay for their educational expenses. Please open new revenue streams for those parents who are sending their children to college.

Loving Father, forgive the sins of our educators and students.  Forgive us, as parents and guardians, for being negligent in teaching our students to first reverence You which is the beginning of wisdom.  Forgive those of us for sacrificing our students to excessive television, video games, music and to the ways and customs of the world.  Forgive those for devaluing the worth of teachers and education.  Forgive us all for not being more insistent on quality education in our school systems.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our students of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our students to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Awesome Lord, Your right hand is glorious in power.  Your right hand smashes the enemy.  In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those who rise against You.  You unleash Your blazing fury; it consumes them like straw. Who is like You among the gods, glorious in holiness, awesome in splendor, performing great wonders?  You are God alone!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

May 8: A Prayer for Our Mothers

Heavenly Father, we thank You for blessing our mothers. We declare our thanks and devotion to You for Your goodness and loving kindness towards them.  We thank You for creating each of them in Your image. Thank You for Your plans for good and not for disaster, to give them a future and a hope.  Lord, You are our God and there is none other, we worship You in the beauty of Your Holiness.  You are the true and living God to whom all honor and glory belongs.  We will love You, Lord our strength.  You are our rock, our fortress and our deliverer.  You are our God, our strength in whom we will trust.

Wonderful Father, we declare that our mothers are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. We confess with holy boldness that our mothers will give their children the Word of God, daily structure, love, discipline, encouragement, healthy lifestyle practices and a good education.  As mothers, they will train up their children in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it.  We confess that our mothers will not copy the behavior and customs of this world, but they are transformed by the Holy Spirit to do what is good and pleasing and perfect in Your sight.  We decree that the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control is operable in their lives.  The light of Jesus is reflected in their actions.  We confess that they are virtuous women and their price is far above rubies.

I will pray the following for a mother this month:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Our Father, we ask You to fill our mothers with the knowledge of Your Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Please order their days so that their daily activities are balanced and fruitful.  Make the crooked places in their lives straight and perfect those things that concern them.  Teach our mothers to develop the individual spiritual gifts and talents of their children.  Restore the broken or struggling relationships between mothers and children. Increase Your love in those mother/child(ren) relationships that are doing well.  Holy Spirit, comfort those who have experienced the death of their mother and equip us as the Body of Christ to provide the support that they may need.
Loving Father, forgive our mothers for sins, such as jealousy, gossip, malice, back biting, bitterness and unforgiveness (list any additional sins).  Forgive them for not trusting You with their lives.  Forgive those for quick tempers and lack of patience. Forgive those mothers who are not raising their children according to Your Word.  Forgive those who allow the television, radio, video games, music, older siblings and activities to raise their children. Forgive those mothers for negative words and deeds against their children’s father.  Forgive those who are still holding on to past hurts and offenses and refuse to let them go. As for me, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our mothers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our mothers to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

All glory belongs to You, the only God and Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord.  All glory, majesty, power, and authority are Yours before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

March 25: A Prayer for Healthy Pregnancies and Healthy Babies

Gracious Father, we thank You for being the source of life.  Thank You for every expectant mother in our congregation.  Thank You for every child that has been born.  Father, we praise You.  We, who serve in Your house, praise You.  Lord, You are good; we celebrate Your lovely Name with music.  We know Your greatness, Lord; You are greater than any other god.  You do whatever pleases You throughout all heaven and earth, and on the seas and in the depths.  We sing praises to Your Name.  Every day we proclaim the good news that You save!

Omnipotent Father, our Creator, we declare that the children who are born are healthy and well loved. Lord, You knit them together in their mother’s womb.  We declare that each baby is wonderfully made. Your workmanship is marvelous!  You made all of their delicate, inner parts. Today, we confess that every baby in utero has exactly 46 chromosomes and they will develop without defect or deformity.  We declare that every cell, muscle, tissue and organ will develop according to Your divine purpose and plan.  We decree that mothers will carry their babies to full term. We destroy every demonic assignment against our unborn, including the assignment of premature birth. In Jesus’ Name, we proclaim that there will be no miscarriages or infertility in our congregation.  We proclaim that sickness and disease, including SIDS, autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, juvenile diabetes, cancer, dyslexia, and all other childhood diseases or dysfunctions, have no legal right to inhabit our children because God is their Shepherd and Shield.

Holy Spirit, help me to pray strategically for the following families who are expecting a child:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, we ask You to increase Your wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in every expectant mother.  Remind them to get the proper rest and nutrition.  Lord, watch over each expectant mother and keep her body healthy.  Provide a support network of family and friends who will help them during and after their pregnancies.  Strengthen the minds, bodies and spirits of parents who have children with special needs.  Comfort and encourage those parents who have experienced a miscarriage.  For those couples who desire to have children, but have been unable to conceive, we ask that You would help them to not be anxious, but to trust You that in the ordained time and season, they will bring forth a child for Your glory.

Holy Father, please forgive our parents and expectant parents for any acts of sinfulness.  Forgive those who have committed fornication or adultery.  Forgive parents for stubbornness, quick tempers and lack of patience.  Forgive them for not seeking help when they are feeling anxious, depressed, fretful, angry or overwhelmed.   Forgive us for not offering more support to our parents.  Forgive us for the times when we have been insensitive to those families who have children with special needs.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our parents not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Eternal God, You are greater than we can understand.  Your years cannot be counted.  You draw up the water vapor and distill it into rain.  Only You know where light comes from and where darkness goes.  You direct the movement of the stars, binding the cluster of the Pleiades and loosening the cords of Orion. Holy and triumphant is Your Name!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Before you go, can we pray for you?
