September 8: A Prayer for Our Men

Heavenly Father, we thank You for our men in the Body of Christ.  We thank You for equipping them to take their rightful place in You. Thank You for empowering them to walk in Your power and authority. Thank You for the men who will join the Body of Christ and glorify Your Name. Thank You, God, for restoration, reconciliation and healing in our families and communities. Thank You, for giving our all things that pertain to life and Godliness. How majestic is Your Name in all the earth. Your glory is set above the heavens.  May Your glorious Name be praised; may it be exalted above all blessings and praise! You are great and most worthy of praise. No one can measure Your greatness. You are good to everyone.  You shower compassion upon all of Your creation. All of Your works will thank You, Lord, and we, Your faithful followers, will praise You.  We will tell of the glory of Your Kingdom and give examples of Your power.

Righteous Father, by faith, we call all of our men saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Spirit. Your Word instructs that faith without works is dead, so we confess that our men work to develop and demonstrate their Christian faith daily.  Our men are priestly providers and protectors of their families.  They love the Lord with all of their hearts, minds and strength. They are great leaders, loving husbands and excellent fathers.  We confess that as they submit to Your Word; they are transformed by the renewing of their minds.  Lord, we decree that their belief systems and behavior patterns reflect Your righteousness in their personal and public lives.  We declare that the light of Jesus is reflected by their actions.  As they fellowship with one another; others will see their good works and glorify You, our Father in heaven.  Lord, we confess that Your favor surrounds our men like a shield.

Holy Spirit, we ask that You touch the hearts of our church congregations to continue praying for our men.  Please empower us all to stand against society’s systems and structures that result in ten percent of all pre-school boys being suspended.  Father, studies show that ninety percent of all “behavioral problems” in public schools are linked to boys.  Please touch the hearts of fathers (and mothers) to teach their children Your Godly principles. Give us plans and strategies that will destroy these statistics and encourage our boys to succeed academically, socially and psychologically.  Give teachers and educators creative ways to reach our boys so that the dropout rate among African American and Latino boys will begin to decrease.  Holy Spirit, turn the hearts of our fathers back towards their children and their children’s hearts back towards them.  Show all our parents how to increase their son’s logical skills, linguistic skills, intra-personal skills, interpersonal skills, spatial skills, kinesthetic skills, and musical skills.

Loving Father, forgive our men for sins of disobedience, selfishness, lying, pornography, fornication, adultery and for not accepting the responsibility for leadership within their families and the church.  Forgive our men for rebellion, selfishness and for accepting the negative labels placed on them by the world.  Lord, please help our men to forgive family members, friends and loved ones who have hurt or offended them.  Father, heal emotional wounds caused by these hurts.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our men of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our men to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord, we praise Your Name. Your Name alone is exalted. Your glory is high above the earth and heaven. You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power. You created all things, by Your will they exist and were created. You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

June 19: A Prayer for Our Fathers

Triumphant Father, we thank You for the fathers in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for reminding them daily that they are created in Your image.  Thank You for crowning each of them with glory and honor.  Thank You for helping them to take their rightful place as the head of their homes.  We, Your servants, give praise to You, Lord.  Your Name will be blessed now and forever!  Everywhere from east to west, Your Name shall be praised.  Lord, You are high above the nations; Your glory is higher than the heavens.  No one can be compared with You!  Not to us, O Lord, but all glory will go to Your Name for Your unfailing love and Your faithfulness.

Majestic Father, by faith, we declare that the fathers in the Body of Christ are saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Holy Spirit. They are priestly providers and protectors of their families.  We confess that our fathers will not copy the behavior and customs of this world; but they will allow You, Lord, to transform them into new men by changing the way they think.  We decree that our fathers are the head and not the tail; they are always on top and never at the bottom.  They are not victims of society; but they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus.  Their children will honor them; for this is right in Your sight.  We confess that our fathers will not provoke their children to anger by the way they treat them; but they will raise them with the discipline and instruction that comes from You, our Heavenly Father.  Above all, we confess that our fathers have victorious futures because Your plans for them are of hope, filled with good and not evil.  We decree that the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are evident in their lives.  The light of Jesus is reflected in their actions.  We confess that our fathers are mighty men of valor.

I will pray for the following fathers in the Body of Christ this month:

Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill our fathers with the knowledge of Your Word in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Please order their days so that their daily activities are balanced and fruitful.  Make the crooked places in their lives straight and perfect those things that concern them.  Help each father to not grieve Your Spirit. Teach them how to develop the individual spiritual gifts and talents of their children.  Restore the broken or struggling relationships between fathers and children. Increase Your love in those father/child(ren) relationships that are doing well.  Holy Spirit, comfort those who have experienced the death of their father and equip us as the Body of Christ to provide the support that they may need.

Faithful Father, forgive our fathers for sins of disobedience, selfishness, and lying.  Forgive our wives and mothers for taking on the roles You have ordained for husbands and fathers. Forgive us as a society for focusing on the fathers who are not living up to their responsibilities while ignoring those who are taking care of their families. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our fathers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our fathers to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Exalted Lord, we praise Your Name.  Your Name is great; Your glory towers over the earth and heaven.  You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things; by your will they exist and were created.  You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Our Children, Youth, Singles, and Married Couples

A Prayer for Our Children, Youth, Singles, and Married Couples

Scripture Reading:

I Chronicles 29:10-13, John 14:12-26

Reflections of the Heart:

It is the Lord’s good pleasure to bless us.  So, “may the Lord, the God of our ancestors, multiply us a thousand times more and bless us as He has promised!”  Deuteronomy 1:11 (NLT)

Scriptural Prayer:

What mighty praise belongs to You, O God, in Zion.  You are the hope of everyone on earth.  You formed the mountains by Your power and armed Yourself with mighty strength.  You quiet the raging oceans and silence the shouting of the nations.  Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your wonders.  From where the sun rises to where it sets, You inspire shouts of joy!  Father, we thank You for the children, youth, singles and married couples of WVUMC.  Thank You for providing and protecting them.   We are thankful to You and we bless Your Name.  You are good, Lord and Your mercy is everlasting.  Your truth endures to all generations.

Father, we confess that our children and youth are a gift and reward from You.  Thank You for making them so wonderfully complex, Your workmanship is marvelous.  We declare that they will honor their fathers and mothers so that all will be well with them and they will live long lives on the earth.  Likewise, our singles will love You with all their hearts, souls, strength, and minds; they will love their neighbors as they love themselves.  We say that our singles will be happy and enjoy themselves.  They will eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of their labor, for these are gifts from You.  We confess that children, youth, singles and married couples will walk in the fruit of the Spirit and operate in love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  We declare that our wives will submit to their own husbands and our husbands will love their wives just as Christ also love the Church.  Lord, we confess that our children, youth, singles and married couples will prosper and be in health even as their soul prospers.

Father, we pray that our children and youth will live prayerful, godly and holy lives.  Help our parents to model lives that are pleasing to You so that they can train them well.  Please keep our children and youth as the apple of Your eye and hide them under the shadow of Your wings.   Bless them in school and let Your favor surround them like a shield.  Holy Spirit, please help our singles and married couples to live with all godliness and contentment, which is great gain.  Encourage our singles as they gather together for fun, recreation and fellowship.  For those singles who desire a mate, help them to wait patiently on You.  Knit the hearts of our married couples closer together and give them courage to live Your Word in every facet of their marriage.  Father, please restore the broken places in those marriages that are struggling.  Increase Your love and security in those marriages that are doing well.  As iron sharpens iron, help our married couples to encourage and build each other up.  We ask You to bless all of our families at WVUMC.

Holy Spirit, show me how I can be a greater blessing to the members of my Church Family:

Please forgive us for not always meeting the basic needs of our children and youth.  Forgive us for not hugging them, and being too busy to interact and play with them.  Forgive us where we have neglected to build up the self-esteem and self-worth of our youth.  Forgive those singles and married couples who are anxious and fretful.  Forgive them for not trusting You.  Lord, remind us of all to forgive others; and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but, deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, Your Name alone is exalted.   Heaven is Your throne and earth is Your footstool.  Your hands have made both heaven and earth and everything in them are Yours.  You command the morning to appear and cause the dawn to rise in the east. You make daylight spread to the ends of the earth, to bring an end to the night’s wickedness.  The Lord God is Your Name!   In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Men

A Prayer for Men

Scripture Reading:

Exodus 15:2-18, II Kings 18:1-7

Reflections of the Heart:

God loves men and He wired them for success.  The enemy has been disrupting God’s preferred plans for our men through a strategy to steal, kill and destroy them.  Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams noted, “Life is not fair; we only get what we are willing to fight for!”  By praying for our men, boys and families we are positioned to “Fight to Win!”  God used a man to redeem humankind and He continues to empower men to lead and conquer.

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Your majestic Name fills the earth!  Your glory is higher than the heavens. May Your glorious Name be praised!  May it be exalted above all blessing and praise!  You are great and most worthy of praise!  No one can measure Your greatness.  Thank You, Father, for our men.  Lord, we thank You for equipping our men to take their rightful place in You.  Thank You for the men and boys who will join the body of Christ and glorify Your Name.  Thank You, God, for restoration, reconciliation and healing in our families and communities.  Thank You, for giving us everything we need to live a godly life.

Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in the lives of our men on earth as it is in heaven.  By faith, we call our men saved, sanctified, and filled with Your Spirit.  Your Word instructs that faithwithout works is dead and useless, so we confess that our men will work to develop and demonstrate their Christian faith, daily.  We declare that they will be priestly providers and protectors of their families.  We confess that as they submit to Your Word, they will be transformed into new people by changing the way they think.  Lord, we decree that their belief systems and behavior patterns will reflect Your righteousness in their personal and professional lives.  We declare that the light of Jesus will be reflected by their actions.  As they fellowshipwith one another; others will see their good works and praise You, our Father in heaven.  Lord, we confess that Your favorsurrounds them like a shield.  We confess that they will earn, save, spend and invest money in obedience to Your perfect plan for their lives and families. We declare that their finances are blessed and they are lenders, not borrowers.  Lord, because we realize that the food we put in our bodies can impact our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual capabilities, we declare that our men will practice healthy eating practices.  Above all, we confess that they are victorious in everything they do, because Your future for them is filled with hope, good and not evil.

Lord, we ask that You touch the hearts of our congregation to pray for the men and boys of this local assembly.  Holy Spirit, please empower us all to stand against society’s systems and structures that result in ten percent of all pre-school boys being suspended.  Holy Spirit, studies show that ninety percent of all “behavioral problems” in public schools are linked to boys.  Please touch the hearts of fathers (and mothers) to teach their children Your godly principles.

Father, forgive our men for sins of disobedience, selfishness, lying, pornography, fornication, adultery and for not accepting the responsibility for leadership within their families and the church.  Forgive our boys for rebellion, selfishness and for accepting the negative labels placed on them by the world.  Forgive our wives and mothers for being complacent. Lord, please help the men, women, boys and girls in our congregation to forgive past hurts caused by family members and loved ones.  Father, heal emotional wounds caused by these hurts.  Lord, remind all of us to forgive others and help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, we praise Your Name.  Your Name is very great; Your glory towers over the earth and heaven. You are worthy, Lord, to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things and they exist because You created what You pleased.  You are Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
