October 7: A Prayer of Love for God and Our Neighbor

Almighty Father, thank You for loving us despite how we sometimes act or think.  Thank You for giving us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with Your love, so that we may share love with others.  Thank You for helping us to be more loving and compassionate towards others. Lord, we come before You clapping our hands and shouting joyful praise to You.  You are the great King of all the earth.  You subdue the nations before us and put our enemies under our feet. Our hearts are confident in You, Father.  Because of this confidence, we will sing Your praises. We will wake the dawn with our song, Lord, among all the people.  We will sing Your praises among the nations for Your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.  Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.

Glorious Father, as Your dear children, we commit to loving You with all our hearts, and with all our souls, and with all our minds. This is the greatest and most important commandment of all. In the same Spirit, we also commit to loving our neighbors as ourselves. We confess that the Holy Spirit fills and controls us as we commit to doing Your will. We decree that we will be patient and kind instead of acting jealous, boastful, proud or rude.  We will not demand our own way, but we will be considerate of others and their opinions.  We will not be irritable or keep a record of being wronged.  But, we will be joyful and quick to forgive. We commit to living a righteous life. We will be patient and will not return evil with evil.  We will let our light shine so that people will see our good works and glorify You, our Father.

Holy Spirit, show us how to truly love the Father with our whole heart, soul, mind and strength.  Reveal to us those habits, mindsets and attitudes that prevent us from being truly surrendered to the Father.  Help us to not deceive ourselves by thinking we are walking in love while using our tongues to curse those who have been made in the Father’s image. In this world where we are told to put ourselves first, help us to truly put the Father first in our lives, and to esteem others better than ourselves.

Exalted Father, we ask Your forgiveness for our sins.  Forgive us for being irreverent and apathetic towards You.  Forgive us for murmuring and complaining and not showing our love and appreciation for all that You do for us.  Forgive us for being impatient with our neighbor. Forgive us for picking and choosing to whom we will show love.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Eternal Lord, You are God alone.  You created the heavens and the earth; You put everything in its place.  You made the world to be lived in, not a place of empty chaos.  You are the Lord and there is no other.  You only speak what is true and declare only what is right.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

August 19: A Prayer for Our Family Members, Friends, Co-Workers, and Enemies Who are Backsliders or Unbelievers

Our Father, we thank You for Your tender mercies and unfailing love. Thank You for providing a way for sinners to be reconciled back to You. Thank You for enlightening our hearts to say “yes” to You when You called us. Thank You for extending Your mercy toward us every day. Lord, You are great and Your power is absolute. Your understanding is beyond comprehension.  We meditate on Your unfailing love as we worship in Your temple.  Your Name will be praised to the ends of the earth. We honor You, as our Lord and Savior.

Awesome Father, it is Your desire that all men be saved and that they come to the knowledge of the truth.  We confess that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  He is the only door by which people are saved.  We declare that when our unsaved family members, friends and enemies confess with their mouths, the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that You raised Jesus from the dead, they will be saved.  Father, we declare that they will know the truth, and the truth will set them free.  As a Church Family, we gladly take the great commission and go into the world preaching the Good News to everyone You place in our paths.  We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we know that it is Your power, God, at work saving everyone who believes.  In Jesus’ Name, we will share the Good News at every opportunity that is presented to us.

Compassionate Father, we cry out to You to clear the way so that Your Gospel may be preached in every city, state, country, and continent. Since the harvest is plentiful, please send laborers to proclaim Your Word of salvation to the unsaved. We ask You to save our unsaved family members, friends, co-workers, and enemies.  Surround them with the counsel of the Godly so that they may be washed in the water of Your Word; putting away the old man and putting on the new.  Holy Spirit, as the Word goes forth, please touch the hearts of the unsaved to receive it. Help us, the Body of Christ, to present the Gospel with love, hope and patience.  Father, we ask You to remove the scales from the eyes and circumcise the hearts of those who are in a backslidden state. Like the prodigal child, help them to come to themselves and return to You, their first love.  Holy Spirit, remind them that nothing can ever separate them from God’s love; not death, life, angels, demons,  fears for today or worries about tomorrow, not even the powers of hell can separate them from the Father’s love.

List the people that you know who are unsaved or backslidden.  Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to witness to these people.  Trust Him to give you the courage to approach them and the words to say to them.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Everlasting Father, forgive the unsaved and backsliders for not acknowledging You or Your Son.  Forgive them for disobedience, hatred, rebellion, lack of faith, disobedience, and rejection of Your Gospel. Please have mercy upon them and extend Your grace towards them.  Forgive us as a Church Family for not sharing Jesus and the Gospel with more people.  Forgive us for being timid and reserved about sharing the Gospel.  Forgive us for not reaching out to those who we know are in a backslidden state.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind the unsaved and backsliders of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy, Holy, Holy, are You, the Lord God Almighty.  You are worthy, to receive glory, honor and power.  To You, the blessed, and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light. To You be honor and everlasting power.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

July 22: A Prayer for Healthy, Happy Marriages in the Body of Christ

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You for the married couples in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for encouraging and blessing our marriages.  With our whole being we praise You. We rejoice in knowing that You are our God, and that we are the people You watch over and the flock under Your care. Thank You, Lord!  We bless Your holy Name!  We stand in awe of You and Your unfailing love for us. You are the Master who motivates our hearts toward all that is good. We acknowledge Your sovereignty over our marriages. We will sing a new song to You, Lord, for the wonderful deeds You have done. We shout with joy and worship You with gladness.  We come before You singing with joy.  You are the Lord, our Father, who made us and we are Yours!

Holy Spirit, as the Body of Christ, we expect You to lead us into all truth as it pertains to the covenant of marriage. We confess that our married couples are never subject to the spirit of fear; but they have power, love and self-discipline to help them keep their covenant pure. Lord, we confess that our husbands will live with their wives according to knowledge and they will cherish them as the manifested gift of God’s favor. We declare that our wives will honor their husbands and will adorn themselves as Sarah did, not with material elegance, but with a quiet and peaceful spirit which You love, Lord God.  As the Body of Christ, we confess that our married couples will daily aspire to the greater love that Jesus personified and live a servant’s life before one another. We declare that they will provoke one another to good works and celebrate one another’s gifts. We confess that they will commit to encourage and build one another up in the Lord!

Holy Spirit, help each spouse to keep a heart of unconditional love for their mate. Reveal creative ways for our married couples to love and enjoy each other. Heal wounds and hurts and rejoin marriages that seem to be walking down separate paths. Teach them to freely issue mercy and to forgive quickly without allowing grudges to form.  Magnify the model of marriage through those who have healthy marriages, so that others are inspired and encouraged.  Anoint their unity together as husbands and wives, so that their children will be given stability and assurance, and the unsaved will be given hope concerning the sanctity of marriage. Re-light the passion and fire for those who are struggling sexually and emotionally. When our married couples speak of one another, whether in public or private, please season their tongues with grace. Help our married couples to stay committed to truth and to cover one another’s weaknesses with unyielding love.

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following marriage(s):

Holy Father, forgive our married couples for being too stubborn to offer grace and mercy to their spouses when they should have.  Forgive those who have neglected their commitment to their spouse, sexually, emotionally and relationally. Where those couples have grown cold-hearted, make their hearts tender toward their spouses. Forgive them for the times they’ve become so distracted with the cares of this world that they have neglected their responsibility to one another. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our married couples of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Awesome Father, help our married couples not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

March 27: A Prayer of Thanksgiving for Jesus Christ

Our Father God, we thank You for loving us so much that You gave Your one and only Son, Jesus Christ, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. We love and adore You. Lord Jesus, thank You for sacrificing Your life on the cross for our sins.  Because of You, we can now stand before You as pure, holy, and justified. We also thank You for sending the Holy Spirit, our Comforter.  Holy Spirit, we thank You for filling us with love, fruit, gifts and power.  We exalt You, our God and King. We praise Your Name forever and ever.

Jesus, our Bread of Life, we are grateful that You have given us peace with God. Because of Your obedience and sacrifice there is no longer a void between us and our Heavenly Father. Lord, You were wounded for our transgressions. You were bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon You, and by Your stripes we are healed. Your Name is above all other names. At Your Name every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that You are Lord. Thank You for redeeming us and placing the Kingdom of God within us. Hallel YAH!

What changes have occurred in your life since Jesus Christ has become your personal Lord and Savior:

Holy Spirit, help us to stay focused on Kingdom business instead of worldly desires, and selfish cares and concerns. Help us to regard Jesus’ Name as holy. Help us to keep renewing our minds daily until the image of Christ is formed on the inside of us. Help us to show great reverence for the suffering, the shame, and the sacrifice of our Lord. And keep us humbled in knowing that were it not for Jesus Christ, we would have no hope at all.

Loving Father, forgive us for at times disregarding the sacrifice the Lord Jesus made to secure our freedom. Forgive us for taking unfair advantage of that freedom. Forgive those of us for failing to observe communion with You and with our families. Forgive us for making excuses for our disobedience in doing our part to fulfill the Great Commission.  Lord, forgive me for (list the sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say out loud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You are the Lord, our Redeemer and Creator, who made all things. You alone stretched out the heavens. You reign forever, executing judgment from Your throne. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

December 18: A Prayer for Our Family Members, Friends, Co-Workers, and Enemies Who are Backsliders or Unbelievers

Glorious Father, we thank You for Your unconditional love. Thank You for showing us just how great Your love is by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Thank You for adopting us as Your children. Lord God, we thank You for the precious gift of eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Your majestic Name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens! We will praise Your Name forever and ever, for You have all wisdom and power.

Triumphant Father, we declare that the teaching of Your Word gives light so that anyone can understand it. We commit to sharing the Gospel with our unsaved family members, friends, co-workers and enemies. We will fulfill The Great Commission by going into all the world and preaching the Good News to everyone, without prejudice. We confess that as Your Word is preached throughout the world it will convict the hearts of the unsaved. As the Body of Christ, we are not ashamed to tell the Good News about Jesus Christ, for we know that it is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes. We declare that as people confess with their mouths, the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that You raised Him from the dead, they will be saved. Lord, we decree that those who are set free by the Son of God will know that they are truly free indeed!

List the people that you know who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Ask the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to witness to these people. Trust Him to give you the courage to approach them and the words to say to them.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Merciful Father, there is much to be done to gather the great harvest of souls in our generation. Please send laborers to proclaim the Good News to the unsaved in every nation and every tongue. Strengthen and protect missionaries around the world who proclaim Christ and do good works. Lord God, we ask You to circumcise the hearts of those who are backslidden. Lead them back to the path of righteousness. Remind them of the huge cloud of witnesses that surround them and strengthen them to strip off every weight that slows them down, especially the sin that so easily trips them up. Please give them the endurance to continue the race You have set before them. We ask that You help them to keep their eyes focused on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects their faith.

Precious Father, forgive our family members, friends, co-workers, and enemies who are backsliders or unbelievers for not acknowledging You or Your Son. Forgive them for rejecting Your love and forgiveness. Forgive them for living in ruthless rebellion and ignorance of the Truth. Please have mercy on their souls and extend Your grace toward them.  Forgive us, the Body of Christ, for shrinking back and neglecting to share the Good News with more people. Forgive us for being constrained by fear instead of being motivated by faith. Forgive us for gossiping, backbiting, and slandering our backslidden brothers and sisters when we should have been helping them come back to Jesus. Lord, forgive me for (list the sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our family members, friends, co-workers, and enemies who are backsliders or unbelievers of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our family members, friends, co-workers, and enemies who are backsliders or unbelievers to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

No one is holy like You, Lord! There is no one besides You. There is no Rock like You, our God.  Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. You are awesome in Your sanctuary. You are the God of Israel, who gives power and strength to Your people. Praise be to You, O God!  May Your glory shine over all the earth. Holy, holy, holy are You, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with Your glory!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Love for God and Our Neighbor

A Prayer of Love for God and Our Neighbor

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 113, John 13:34-35

Reflections of the Heart:

The greatest gift given by God is love.  God is love and with His love we can love Him and our neighbor.  God loved us so much that He gave His only Son for our lives.  Love is patient and kind.  Love is not jealous, boastful, proud, or rude.  Love never fails.  As you pray today, think about your love for Christ and for your neighbor.  Does God have your whole heart?  Do you love others unconditionally?  Love never gives up, never loses faith, and is always hopeful.

Scriptural Prayer:

Our Father, today, we praise You with our whole heart.  We will tell of all Your marvelous works.  We will be glad and rejoice in You; we will sing praises to Your Name.  We cry out with a loud voice, “Thanks be to our God.”  As the heavens are high above the earth, so great is Your mercy toward those who fear You; as far as the east is from the west,  You have removed our transgressions from us.  Thank You for being our Father and calling us Your children.  Thank You for loving us unconditionally.  Thank You for creating us for Your good pleasure.

Father, You have asked us to continue to love one another, for love comes from You.  Anyone who loves is Your child and knows You.  Those who do not love do not know You, for You are love.  You have shown how much You loved us by sending Your one and only Son, Jesus, into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.  This is real love – not that we loved You, but You loved us and sent Your Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.  Thank You, Jesus, for giving Your life for ours.  We were not worthy, yet, You made us worthy to love and know You.  Thank You!  Today, we confess that we will love You with all of our hearts, souls, strength and minds, and we will love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

Father, show me how to strengthen my relationship with You and (list the names of people who you need to strengthen your relationships with):

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, because God loves us so much, help us to love our neighbor.  We have never seen God, but if we love each other, we know that God will live in us and His love will be brought to full expression in us.  Holy Spirit, we do not want to grieve You by the way we live.  You are the One who has identified us as Your own, guaranteeing that we will be saved on the day of redemption.  In this season of reflection and repentance, help us to let go of any bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.  Instead, help us to be kind to all people, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven us.  Break any bondage(s) that is keeping us from loving and caring for people.  Help us as a Church Family to draw closer to God, our Father, and Jesus, our Lord, through loving each other.  Holy Spirit, heal broken relationships.

Holy Spirit, show me what is preventing Your love from shining through me toward others:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lord, forgive us for not loving and caring for all people.  Forgive us for not loving You with our whole hearts.  Forgive us for holding grudges and remembering old debts.  Forgive us for judging others before getting to know them.  Forgive us for being proud, impatient, stubborn, rebellious, or jealous.  Please forgive us for not forgiving other people.  Remind us to forgive others; and we shall be quick to forgive.

Think about any relationships in your life that are strained or broken.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any bitterness, anger, or disappointment that you may have towards them.  Acknowledge it, and forgive that person(s):

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are high above all nations, and Your glory is above the heavens.  Who is like You, the Lord our God, who dwells on high, who humbles Yourself to behold the things that are in the heavens and in the earth?  You have declared, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth.”  In Jesus’ Name, Amen
