A Prayer for Joy for the Body of Christ

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 29, Philippians 4:4-8

Reflections of the Heart:

God, the source of our hope, will fill us completely with joy and peace because we trust in Him.  We will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Scriptural Prayer:

Omniscient Father, as the Body of Christ, we thank You for being our God.  We thank You for saving us through the sacrifice of Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. We thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to instruct, guide, teach and comfort us. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for empowering us and filling our lives with joy. Hallel YAH!  Awesome Father, You are great and greatly to be praised. You are to be feared above all gods. The earth is Yours and everything in it; the world and all its people belong to You. You laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. Lord, Your works are wonderful. You are our help and shield.  In You, do our hearts rejoice because we trust in Your holy Name. Let Your unfailing love continue to surround us Lord, for our hope is in You alone.

Wonderful Father, we declare as the Body of Christ, that as we keep the Your commands and abide in Your love; Your joy will remain in us and our joy will overflow.  Today, we confess that we will count it all joy when we fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience. We will let patience have its perfect work in us so that we may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  Lord, we confess that instead of shame and dishonor; we will enjoy a double share of honor. We boldly declare that in this land we possess a double portion of prosperity and everlasting joy is ours.

These are the three things that I am joyful for:

Righteous Father, we ask You to bless all members of the Body of Christ.  Holy Spirit, please instruct us in our relationships, ministries, careers, and finances.  Make our hearts strong, blameless, and holy as we stand before God, our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His holy people.  Remind us daily of the Word which tells us that a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. Holy Spirit, please help each of us to develop a joyful disposition. Help us all to enjoy life and laugh more.

Loving Father, forgive us for any acts of sinfulness, including strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, gossip and any abuse of power.  Forgive us for at times not being joyful, being that Your joy is our strength. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Immortal Lord, You are the blessed and only Almighty God.  You are the King of kings, and the Lord of lords. You alone can never die.  You live in light so brilliant that no human can approach You. No human eye has ever seen You, nor ever will. To You belongs all honor and power forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Scriptural Prayer:

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love and joy that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You, Father, for blessing those who seek You, who have made You their joy, hope and confidence. Thank You for loving us so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from a life of despair and hopelessness. Gracious Father, we praise You with all of our hearts.  You merely spoke and the heavens were created. You breathed the word and all of the stars were born. Your plans stand firm forever and Your intentions can never be shaken.  Lord, Your works are wonderful. You are our help and shield.  In You, our hearts rejoice because we trust in Your Holy Name. Let Your unfailing love continue to surround us, Lord, for our hope is in You alone.  You are an awesome God!

Wonderful Father, we declare that as we keep Your commands and abide in Your love, Your joy will remain in us and our joy will overflow.  We know that the joy of the Lord is our strength, so we decree that we will not allow the cares of this life to cause us to stray from You, Your Word or our faith in Your promises.  We will maintain our Godly joy on a daily basis because greater is the Holy Spirit in us than any spirit that lives in the world. Today, we confess that we will count it all joy when we fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of our faith produces patience.  We will let patience have its perfect work in us so we may be complete, lacking nothing. Lord, we decree that instead of shame and dishonor; we will enjoy a double share of honor.  We boldly declare that in this land we will possess a double portion of prosperity and everlasting joy will be ours.

Faithful Father, as kings of the King, and lords of the Lord, we declare that we belong to Christ Jesus.  We are a new joyful people − our old lives are gone and a new life is before us!  Accordingly, we choose not to copy the behavior and customs of this world, but we are transforming into new people every day by changing the ways we think and act.  When we reflect Your love and joy, then it can be mirrored back to us. Lord, help us to fully embrace love with a grateful heart and live a joyful life. Continue to help us to grow our faith so strong that each challenge will be met with a smile and a heart bursting with joy.

Loving Father, forgive us for all acts of sinfulness, including strife, discord, jealousy, rivalries, gossip and any abusive relationships.  Forgive us for when we have allowed the cares of this world to rob us of our joy. Magnificent Lord, may all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in You.  May those who love Your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!” O Lord, our Lord, Your majestic Name fills the earth!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Joy Families

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 29, Philippians 4:4-8

Reflections of the Heart:

God, the source of our hope, will fill us completely with joy and peace because we trust in Him.  We will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Scriptural Prayer:

Omniscient Father, this is the day You have made and we will rejoice and be glad in it!  Thank You for families and for providing them with Your joy. Thank You for taking care of them and supplying all of their needs from Your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to instruct, guide, teach and comfort them. Lord, families will worship You with gladness and come before You, singing with joy.  They acknowledge that You are God! You made them, and they are Yours. Families are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture. They enter into Your gates with thanksgiving; go into Your courts with praise.  Families give thanks to You and praise Your Name, for You are good. Your unfailing love continues forever, and Your faithfulness continues to each generation.

Wonderful Father, we declare that all families will love You, even though they have never seen You.  Though they do not see You now, they trust You; and they rejoice with a glorious inexpressible joy. May those who search for You be filled with joy and gladness in You.  May those who love Your salvation repeatedly shout, “God is great!” Today, we confess that when troubles of any kind come their way, they will consider it an opportunity for great joy.  For when their faith is tested, their endurance has a chance to grow. So they will let it grow, for when their endurance is fully developed, they will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.  We decree that families who listen to instruction will prosper; those who trust in You will be joyful. As they prosper, they will share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.  They will have influence and honor.

Holy Spirit, reveal how I can pray for the joy of families today:

Holy Spirit, help families understand that God is the source of all joy and it is through His grace that it is offered to them.  Show them that while worldly joy is temporary, the joy that You give is always available and accessible. Teach them how to rejoice in the Lord by seeking Him first in all things, spending time in His presence and in His Word, being obedient to His will, honoring Him with praise and partnering with Him through prayer.  Increase their faith and patience during times where joylessness tries to take root due to challenging external or self-inflicted circumstances such as estranged relations, lack of communication, unforgiveness of past hurts, long-term illness and grief. Give them the strength and the strategies to overcome obstacles joyfully so that they may be positive role models for those they love, lead, instruct, care for and walk beside. Show them how to enjoy life and laugh more.

Loving Father, forgive families for all acts of sinfulness, including strife, discord, jealousy, lying, greed, gossip, bribery, abuse of power and idolizing people and things.  Forgive them when instead of embracing joy, they choose to worry, fear, complain and wallow in self-pity. Forgive those who only focus on what will bring them joy instead of what they can do to give You and others joy.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind families all of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help families not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

July 22: A Prayer for Healthy, Happy Marriages in the Body of Christ

Exalted Father, thank You for Your great love that continues from generation to generation!  Thank You for the married couples in the Body of Christ.  Thank You for encouraging and blessing our marriages.  With our whole being we praise You. We rejoice in knowing that You are our God, and that we are the people You watch over and the flock under Your care. Thank You, Lord!  We bless Your holy Name!  We stand in awe of You and Your unfailing love for us. You are the Master who motivates our hearts toward all that is good. We acknowledge Your sovereignty over our marriages. We will sing a new song to You, Lord, for the wonderful deeds You have done. We shout with joy and worship You with gladness.  We come before You singing with joy.  You are the Lord, our Father, who made us and we are Yours!

Holy Spirit, as the Body of Christ, we expect You to lead us into all truth as it pertains to the covenant of marriage. We confess that our married couples are never subject to the spirit of fear; but they have power, love and self-discipline to help them keep their covenant pure. Lord, we confess that our husbands will live with their wives according to knowledge and they will cherish them as the manifested gift of God’s favor. We declare that our wives will honor their husbands and will adorn themselves as Sarah did, not with material elegance, but with a quiet and peaceful spirit which You love, Lord God.  As the Body of Christ, we confess that our married couples will daily aspire to the greater love that Jesus personified and live a servant’s life before one another. We declare that they will provoke one another to good works and celebrate one another’s gifts. We confess that they will commit to encourage and build one another up in the Lord!

Holy Spirit, help each spouse to keep a heart of unconditional love for their mate. Reveal creative ways for our married couples to love and enjoy each other. Heal wounds and hurts and rejoin marriages that seem to be walking down separate paths. Teach them to freely issue mercy and to forgive quickly without allowing grudges to form.  Magnify the model of marriage through those who have healthy marriages, so that others are inspired and encouraged.  Anoint their unity together as husbands and wives, so that their children will be given stability and assurance, and the unsaved will be given hope concerning the sanctity of marriage. Re-light the passion and fire for those who are struggling sexually and emotionally. When our married couples speak of one another, whether in public or private, please season their tongues with grace. Help our married couples to stay committed to truth and to cover one another’s weaknesses with unyielding love.

Father, as a spouse, I commit to making my marriage better by:

Father, as a single person, I commit to praying for the following marriage(s):

Holy Father, forgive our married couples for being too stubborn to offer grace and mercy to their spouses when they should have.  Forgive those who have neglected their commitment to their spouse, sexually, emotionally and relationally. Where those couples have grown cold-hearted, make their hearts tender toward their spouses. Forgive them for the times they’ve become so distracted with the cares of this world that they have neglected their responsibility to one another. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our married couples of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Awesome Father, help our married couples not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

We worship You, O Great Deliverer! All praise belongs to You. You are the Lord God of Israel who alone does such wonderful things.  We will praise Your glorious Name forever.  Let the whole earth be filled with Your glory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

June 18: A Kingdom Summer Prayer

Wonderful Father, we thank You for our children and youth.  We thank You for blessing them during the school year.  Thank You for protecting and watching over them during their extracurricular activities. Thank You for blessing them with a chance to rest and relax during the summer.  Father, we bless Your Holy Name.  We come before Your presence with thanksgiving and we shout joyfully to You, the Rock of our salvation.  Lord, You are the great God, and the great King above all gods.  In Your hand are the deep places of the earth; the mightiest mountains are Yours.  The sea is Yours, for You made it, and Your hands formed the dry land.  Lord, You are our God and we are the people You watch over, the flock under Your care.

Holy Father, we declare that our children and youth live in the shelter of the Most High and rest in the shadow of the Almighty.  As a result, no harm will come near them during the summer.  In accordance to their obedience, we declare that they are blessed in the city and in the country.  They are blessed when they come in, and when they go out.  We confess by faith, that our children and youth will not follow the advice of the wicked or stand around sinners, or join in with mockers; but they will delight and meditate in Your Word day and night.  We declare that they will give their bodies as living and holy sacrifices to You, Lord.  They will not copy the illicit behavior and customs of this world because they are transformed into new people by the way they think.  We confess that every youth who is seeking summer employment will find it because they are surrounded with favor like a shield.  Lord, we decree that our children and youth are taught of You and they enjoy great peace.

Almighty Father, please touch the hearts of our children and youth to fear You and hate evil, pride, arrogance, and a perverse mouth.  Cause them to walk according to the Holy Spirit and not their flesh.  Let the mind of Christ be established in them.  Help them to honor and obey their parents, so that things may go well with them and that they will have long life on the earth.  Empower our parents and guardians with the knowledge and skill to structure a lifestyle that will compel our children and youth to honor and obey You as their God.  Please give our parents and guardians the wisdom, strength, and guidance they need to plan, organize, and implement summer activities for their children and youth. Father, bless our families during the summer break with vacations.  Please protect us during our times of travel, leisure and play. Lord, provide the extra income needed for summer activities.  Please keep our children and youth protected from idol minds, unwise decisions, ungodly peer pressure, emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, and untimely death.  Holy Spirit, help each student to retain the information that they learned throughout the school year.  Father, we ask You to please surround them with Your love; lead and instruct them by Your Holy Spirit, and keep them as the apple of Your eye.

List your specific requests for the children and youth during the summer and take those concerns to the Lord in prayer:

Merciful Father, please forgive our children and youth for disobedience and all acts of sinfulness, including gossip, name-calling, bullying, rebellion, stubbornness and disrespect for authority.  As parents, forgive us for any abuse or neglect of our children and youth. Forgive those who have been so preoccupied with their own needs that they have failed to have structure in their homes for healthy meals and quality family time.  Forgive those who have not always supported their children’s educational needs, trained them to have good manners, or taught them to live a life of truth and integrity. Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our children and youth of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our children and youth not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Glorious Lord, Your Name is very great; Your glory towers over the earth and heaven.  You alone held the oceans in Your hand.  You measured off the heavens with Your fingers.  You alone knows the weight of the earth.  Triumphant and Glorious is Your Name!   In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Before you go, can we pray for you?
