A Prayer for the Nations of the World

A Prayer for the Nations of the World

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 147:12-20, Psalm 33:6-22

Reflections of the Heart:

The Lord of the harvest is awaiting our prayers.  He also beckons us to share His Gospel.  As you are praying today, think of those persons in far away lands who have not heard the Gospel.  Then, think about that family member, co-worker or neighbor near you who needs to hear of the wonderful saving power of Jesus Christ.  Are you the one to share the Gospel today?

Scriptural Prayer:

Father, we praise You as our God and King.  We bless Your Name forever and ever.  Everyday we will bless You and praise Your name forever.  You are great and most worthy of praise.  Your greatness is beyond discovery.  Father, we thank You for teaching us how to pray.  We are grateful for the freedom to worship You, our God.  Thank You for sending Your son, Jesus Christ, for the redemption of all humankind.  We thank You for touching the believers from all nations of the world to pray.  Thank You, Father, for giving us Your Spirit and unifying us.  We praise You for hearing our petitions and answering them.  You are wonderful and we bless Your Name.

Father, You so loved the world that You gave Your one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.  We stand amazed at the fullness of Your love.  We declare that all the earth will be filled with an awesome awareness of Your glory like the waters cover the sea.  You have spoken this and we believe it will come to pass. Your word tells us that there will be a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing in front of Your throne and in front of the Lamb.  And they will shout, “Salvation comes from our God on the throne and from the Lamb!”  We confess that every person, tribe, nation, people and language will acknowledge that You are God of the nations and Your Son, Jesus Christ, is the liberator for all people.  We confess people will be saved throughout the world.

Father, empower us by Your Holy Spirit so that we might fulfill the passion of Your Son.  Unite, the church of Jesus Christ in all nations, so that the world will know the full measure of Your love.  Holy Spirit, turn our attention to the task at hand so that we might make disciples of all nations.  We ask You to call out and send forth a great multitude of workers to bring Your message of salvation to every nation, especially those nations that have yet to hear the message of Your great salvation and delivering power.  Fill us with Your unconditional love, so that we can see each person as a new creation in Christ, destined to bring You glory.

List a few changes that need to occur in our world and begin to pray about them:

Father, forgive the Body of Christ for pride, competition, division, isolation, arrogance and selfish ambition that destroy Your witness to our communities and to the nations of the earth.  As the Body of Christ, Holy Spirit, we admit that we may grieve You from time to time and limit Your great power through our carnality and our selfishness. We confess that we have not loved the world as You love the world. We ask You to help us.  Forgive us for disobeying Your command to compel people to come to You. Forgive us for diluting the Gospel and denying Your power.  Remind all of us to forgive others; and help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but, deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are the King of glory.  You are the Lord Almighty.  You are worthy to receive glory, honor and power, for You created everything.  It is for Your pleasure that they exist and were created.  Holy, holy, holy are You, the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is filled with Your glory.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for the Conflicts in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea

A Prayer for the Conflicts in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 148, Micah 4:1-6

Reflections of the Heart:

Where do wars and fights originate? Do they not come from worldly desires for pleasure to satisfy the lust of the eyes and flesh and the pride in what nations have and do? God hates the look of pride. He hates the shedding of innocent blood in the name of pride’s schemes of lies to kill, steal and destroy in the false light of desiring to be as God. The heart of humankind has proven to be full of evil.  Pray for the transformation of humanity’s heart by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Scriptural Prayer:

Triumphant Father, we come before You in the Name of Jesus Christ and sing Your praises. May the nations praise You, O God. Yes, may all the nations praise You.  Your Word is right and all of Your work is done in truth.  You love righteousness and justice.  The earth is full of Your goodness.  By Your Word the heavens were made and You breathed into all of the host that dwell in the heavens.  You gathered the waters of the sea together like a heap and laid up the deep in the storehouses.  Let all of the earth fear You and all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of You.  Holy Father, thank You for providing salvation to every nation.  Thank You Jesus, for sacrificing Your life on the cross so that all people may be set free from the bondage of sin and death.  Thank You for sending disciples of every nationality to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, we speak to the conflicts in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea which also affect our country and we command “peace, be still!”  We confess that our nation will not go to war without wise guidance for victory depends on having many advisers.  We proclaim that leaders of people around the world will work toward governmental solutions that will promote human rights and benefit the welfare of its citizens.   We declare that we will not be afraid of those nations that rise up against the United States, for You, Lord God, are among us, and You are our great and awesome God.  We confess that unjust leaders (nationally and internationally), cannot claim that You are on their side – leaders whose decrees permit injustice? They may gang up against the righteous and condemn the innocent to death, but You, Lord, are our fortress; You are the mighty rock where we hide and we trust You to protect Your children.  We confess that the sins of evil people will turn back on them. You will destroy them for their sins. You, Lord, our God, will destroy them.  Lord, Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.  We proclaim that all nations of the world will recognize You, Lord, and recognize that You are glorious and strong.  The whole earth will acknowledge You and return to You. We command all families of the nations to bow down before You. May they cover their mouths in silent awe, deaf to everything around them.  Until that great day, we pray that all  nations will be secure under governments that are just and fair, so that enemies are far away.

Holy Spirit, touch the hearts of the leaders around the world to follow President Barack Obama’s lead and join him at the negotiating table with an extended open hand, rather than a clenched fist of combat. Father, we specifically lift up to You the leaders of The Republic of Iraq (President Jalal Talabani and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki); The Islamic Republic of Pakistan (President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani); The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (President Hamid Karzai); and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, DPRK, or North Korea (“Chairman of the National Defence Commission of North Korea” Kim Jong-il and “Head of State for Foreign Affairs” Kim Yong-nam). As President Obama focuses on reenergizing America’s alliances while maintaining core American values, bless his efforts to end the combat mission in Iraq; to train, equip and advise the Iraqi Security Forces; and to remove troops by the end of 2011. Empower his new strategy to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Holy Father, we pray that the nations of Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and North Korea will come to Your Light, that these leaders will come to see Your radiance. We ask You to mediate between peoples and settle disputes between strong nations far away.  May all the nations of the world stand amazed at what You will do and be embarrassed at their feeble power.    Merciful Father, have mercy on the American citizens who are being held against their will around the world.  Send Your angels to put a shield around them so that no harm will come to them.

Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts so I am aware of what I personally can do to work toward world peace.

Merciful Father, forgive each nation for its sins, including hypocrisy, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, ageism, elitism, deceit, lying, lewdness, pornography, selfish ambitions, lawlessness, rebellion, violence, hatred, partiality, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and slander.  Forgive the nations for domestically ignoring the health, safety, and welfare of its people whom You love.  Forgive those who disrespect the efforts of our military personnel who are working so hard to keep our nation safe.   Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.)  Holy Spirit, remind every nation of they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.  (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Loving Father, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

In eastern lands, they give glory to You, Lord. In the lands beyond the sea, they praise Your Name, O God of Israel.  We see You, God, moving across the deserts from Edom, O Holy One, coming from Mount Paran. Your brilliant splendor fills the heavens, and the earth is filled with Your praise.  All honor and glory belong to You, God, forever and ever!  You are the eternal King, the unseen one who will never die.  You alone are God.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

A Prayer for Recovery and Restoration in Japan

A Prayer for Recovery and Restoration in Japan

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the nation of Japan and its people.  Thank You for being Jehovah Shalom, the Lord God of peace. Thank You for watching over the nation of Japan and for sending people to help them to rebuild and recover from the devastation caused by the earthquake and tsunami.  Lord, we, Your children, long for You as the deer longs for streams of water.  We thirst for You, the living God. Father, all that is within us will wait quietly for You. You alone are our rock and our salvation.  You are our fortress where we will not be shaken. Our victory and honor comes from You alone. Lord, You are majestic and we bless Your holy and righteous Name.

Eternal Father, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in Japan. Today, we cry out for the nation of Japan. As the people of God, we know that Your arm is not too weak to save the Japanese people from this devastating disaster.  We expect Your divine intervention because we are praying. We confess that through the recovery process the people of Japan will realize that You so loved them that You gave Your one and only Son, so that whoever believes in Him would not perish, but have eternal life. Using the authority given to us by Jesus Christ, we speak to the radioactive iodine levels and command them to decrease so that the water and food supply is safe for public consumption.  We declare that human radioactive contamination will not increase.  Lord, You have not given the Japanese people a spirit of fear so we cancel the assignment of fear that is preventing tourists from visiting the resorts and businesses that have been restored. We call forth justice to run down like water and righteousness like a stream for the families who make a living in the fishing industry in Japan. We call forth adequate compensation for those whose businesses have been stalled because of the contaminated sea water. We decree that Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) CEO Masataka Shimizu will listen to wise counsel and receive instruction as they co-devise recovery strategies.  We command the necessary funds for rebuilding to come forth!

Holy Spirit, thousands of people are still missing, please guide the efforts of the rescue teams in their recovery efforts.  Give peace to those families who are still waiting for word about missing loved ones. Continue to give the TEPCO engineers wisdom as they work on rebuilding the damaged reactors.  Reveal any breaches to the facility structure.  Protect and watch over the workers of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station as they perform their daily duties. Touch the hearts of the global community to continue to assist Japan in this extraordinary recovery effort. Lord, touch the hearts of world leaders to continue to provide the necessary support Japan will need to rebuild.

Merciful Father, please forgive all of us for our many sins. Forgive us for disobedience, rebellion, unbelief, forms of idolatry, shedding of innocent blood, and the rejection of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Forgive those who prey on people in tragic circumstances. Forgive the people in Japan who have not been sensitive to Your leadership. Forgive those Christians who live among the people in this part of the world for not adequately praying for this nation and for not consistently sharing Your love and Your Word.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.)  Holy Spirit, remind the residents of Japan of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Faithful Father, help the residents of Japan to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

We worship You, O Great Deliverer! All praise belongs to You. You are the Lord God of Israel who alone does such wonderful things.  We will praise Your glorious Name forever.  Let the whole earth be filled with Your glory, Amen and Amen!

A Prayer for Peace in Jerusalem

A Prayer for Peace in Jerusalem

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 24, Jeremiah 33:6-11

Reflections of the Heart:

O, Uru-sa-lim – Jerusalem – you are a city founded to possess God’s peace; you are one of the ironies of the whole world. Your long history has experienced so little peace as principalities and powers in the world have shed rivers of blood to possess you, in spite of the heavenly possibilities intended in your name.  We pray for you, Jerusalem.  We pray for peace in Jerusalem.

Scriptural Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.  Lord, You are great and mighty in power; Your understanding is infinite.  We exalt You Lord, our God, and worship at Your holy hill.  You are Holy.  We give You thanks, O God.  Your wondrous works declare that Your Name is near.  Father, thank You for Jerusalem and for re-establishing the Nation of Israel.  Thank You for remaining faithful and steadfast to the covenant You made with Abraham.  Thank You for including us as children in Your covenant and for giving us a rich heritage. Lord, You are good. Your mercy endures forever.  You are a faithful, loving and compassionate God.

Loving Father, in the Name of Jesus, we pray for peace to return to Jerusalem. We stand on Your Word that all who love this city shall prosper. We unite and declare that peace be within the walls of Jerusalem and prosperity in her palaces. For the sake of our families and friends, peace be unto you, Jerusalem. For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, we will seek what is best for you, Jerusalem.  Father God, we, Your peacemakers, sow Your Word, in the Name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. The seeds of Your Word of peace will reap a harvest of righteousness and peace in Jerusalem and in Your Kingdom here on earth.  Your Kingdom is of people who have right-standing before You and who embrace Your peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. We are obedient to Your Word, Father, and know that You, Father, the God of Peace, crush satan under Your feet. Your grace and peace are with us, Your ambassadors of peace to the city of Jerusalem, through the knowledge of You, Father, and of our Lord Jesus Christ. We claim all spiritual prosperity, all necessary good, and freedom from fear, agitating passions and moral conflict for the envoys of Your good will and intentions for Jerusalem.

Father God, we pray Your shalom, Your peace – comprising Your health, prosperity, rest, safety and welfare – be administered to the people of Jerusalem. We covet that Your ambassadors from around the world will unite in prayer to You, to hear and obey Your voice to receive the blessing of Your peace plan for Jerusalem. Father, we lift up to You American leaders who are working to achieve peace in the Middle East – President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and the State Department’s top diplomat for the Middle East, Jeffrey Feltman – as well as U.S. envoy George Mitchell and international envoy Tony Blair. We pray that our leaders will act to influence the minds and spirits of Israeli leaders – Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and top negotiator Amos Gilad. We covet that the Holy Spirit be used to influence the decisions of the representatives of the four Palestinian factions who are meeting this month in Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Aboul Gheit to develop inter-Palestinian committees to form a national unity government. Lord God, we specifically lift up to You Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, and the various leaders of the factions which may emerge from time to time within Palestine, including leaders of Hamas, Fatah al-Islam, The Popular Front and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), the Islamic Jihad and the Palestinian People’s Party, that Your will be done to bring peace to Jerusalem, Israel, Palestine, the wider Middle East, and the world as a whole. Holy Spirit, remind our Christian leaders that peacemakers who plant seeds of peace reap a harvest of righteousness in the development of God’s Kingdom here on earth.

What can you do in the crusade to bring peace to Jerusalem?

Lord God, forgive us in the body of Christ when we fail to be concerned about Your holy city, Jerusalem, and Your people, the Jews, both those who inhabit Israel and those of the Diaspora around the world. Forgive us when we are mindful only of the desire for peace in our country and not for peace in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world, for You love all the world and desire that all people come into Your Kingdom. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Heavenly Father, help the people of Jerusalem to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Almighty God, You alone are our God, the One who is able to do mighty miracles.  As Your Name deserves, You are praised in Jerusalem and to the ends of the earth. Your strong right hand is filled with victory! O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may Your name be praised forever and ever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
