A Prayer for Disabled Veterans

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 23, I Thessalonians 5:16-34

Reflections of the Heart:

Take time today to remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed to the point of physical detriment for our freedom. They deserve our honor, respect, and appreciation. They are to be admired for their enduring faithfulness and service.

Scriptural Prayer:

Most Holy Father, we thank You for all of our disabled veterans. We thank You for their unstoppable spirit and loyal service to The United States of America. Thank You for Your hand of grace which has preserved their lives. What awesome miracles You perform for Your people! Our lives are in Your hands and You keep our feet from stumbling. You have tested us and purified us like silver. We glorify Your wonderful Name. Your faithfulness to Your children is never-ending. We are grateful to belong to You. Your salvation surrounds us like city walls and praise flows from the lips of all those who enter Your presence. You are our everlasting light and glory.

Almighty Father, we decree that our disabled veterans are the apple of Your eye. You are faithful to them and have delivered them from the wicked with Your sword. We confess that they are Your treasured ones whose hunger You always satisfy. We confess that their children have plenty and they will leave an inheritance for their descendants. We decree and declare that when our disabled veterans are surrounded by troubles, You will protect them from the anger of their enemies. The power of Your right hand saves them. We declare that You will work out Your plans for their lives. Because of Your faithful, enduring love they are never abandoned, for you made them. It was nobody but You who redeemed their lives and snatched them from the power of the grave. We declare over them that despite physical loss, they are overwhelmingly victorious through Christ, who loves them. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither their fears for today nor their worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate them from Your love, Father.

Holy Spirit, I commit to pray for the needs of the following disabled veterans this month:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, please encourage and uplift the hearts of those disabled veterans who feel lost, unappreciated, and rejected. Turn the attention of those around them to their hurts and needs and cause the love of Jesus to move us all to make a conscious effort to get them the care and resources that will improve the quality of their lives. Save those who don’t know the Lord Jesus in the pardon of their sins. Please help us to embrace our disabled veterans with love and honor for their sacrifices on our behalf. Help us to incorporate them into the ministry, encouraging them to use their gifts to Your glory. We ask you to lead and guide President Barack Obama, Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Retired U.S. Army General, Eric K. Shinseki, and our U.S. Congresspersons to develop and implement effective programs that will aid in sheltering our homeless veterans, providing proper mental and physical healthcare to them, and supplying them with fair funding for their continued education. Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in the hearts of our disabled veterans. May they always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill their lives.

Gracious Father, forgive the sins of our disabled veterans. Forgive those who are so scarred with disappointment and confusion that they reject Your love. Forgive those who have not been obedient to follow the instructions of their physicians. Forgive them for purposely neglecting their mental and physical health needs. Forgive those of us, Lord, who have ignored and abandoned our disabled veterans. Forgive us for not honoring them for their service to our nation. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind our disabled veterans of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that You may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our disabled veterans not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

Magnificent Lord, You are a warrior. Yahweh is Your name! Your right hand is glorious in power. It smashes the enemy. In the greatness of Your majesty, You overthrow those who rise against You. The strong right arm of the Lord is raised in triumph. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

February 25: A Declaration of Financial Stability

Beloved Father, thank You for being our Great Provider. Thank you for jobs, businesses, and income. Thank You for all of the blessings that Your favor has afforded us. Let us live forever in Your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of Your wings! For You have heard our vows, O God. You have given us an inheritance reserved for those who fear Your Name. May we remain under Your protection forever. May Your unfailing love and faithfulness watch over us. Then we will sing praises to Your Name forever as we fulfill our vows each day.

Lord, we, the Body of Christ, declare that the earth is Yours, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to You. In light of this truth, we declare that we will not rely on the government or anyone else to help us to become financially stable. We will trust in You with all our hearts and we will not depend on our own understanding. We will seek Your will in all we do, and we know that You will show us which path to take. We will not place the welfare of our families at risk by making hasty or unwise financial decisions. As ambassadors of Your Kingdom, we take authority over debt, greed, and reckless spending in all forms. In Jesus’ Name, we rebuke the spirit of poverty, and we command that all that God has entitled us to have is released back into our possession right now! We decree that we will not love money, but we will be satisfied with what we have, for Father, You promised that You will never fail us and You will never abandon us. We will no longer be in fear about our financial future, but we will submit to the guidance of the Holy Spirit who understands all things pertaining to life.

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what areas of financial stewardship you and your family need to improve so that you can become more financially stable:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, help us to act responsibly in the way we handle our money. Remind us to put God first in everything we do. Give us a strong conviction to never withhold our tithes and offerings and to be generous toward others. Lord, teach us to be cheerful givers, for You promised that if we sow sparingly we will also reap sparingly. But if we sow bountifully we will also reap bountifully. Help those of us who are married to work together, not against one another, and to pray for direction about our family finances. Help all of us to seek out wise counsel to improve our understanding of financial management. Give us patience as we go through the process of correction and restoration. May we learn from our past mistakes and be mindful to leave a faithful path of excellence in stewardship for our children to follow.

Holy Father, forgive us of our many sins, including slothfulness, greed, pride, selfishness, arrogance, and rebelliousness. Forgive us when we carelessly make vows, then break them. Forgive us for conforming to the world’s way of doing things instead of adopting the values of the Kingdom. Forgive those of us who still withhold our tithe from You. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Almighty King, You are greater than we can understand. Your years cannot be counted. Everything comes from You and exists by Your power and is intended for Your glory. All glory to You, Lord, forever! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

January 26: A Prayer Concerning Overcoming Addictions

Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, the Name that is above all names. Thank You for giving us the power of the Holy Spirit which is greater than any power that exists in this world. Thank You for never giving up on us, even when we fail time after time. You are so merciful and kind. We cannot live without You, Lord. We will praise You with our whole hearts. We will tell of the marvelous things You have done. We are filled with joy because of You, Most High, and we sing praises to Your Name! We know You to be a shelter for us when we are oppressed and troubled. You never abandon those who search for You. Lord, we love You. You are our strength. You are the Rock in whom we find protection and safety. Your Name is worthy of praise!

Faithful Father, it is not Your will for us to be lost and held captive by addictions to drugs, alcohol, sex, food, gambling, or any other vices. We decree that whoever the Son has set free is truly free. Therefore, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that seeks to destroy the lives of those within our Church Family, our personal families, and in our community. There is no other name that is powerful enough to save our loved ones who are bound by addiction than the Name of Jesus. We are the righteous, and our earnest prayers have great power, producing wonderful results. We will not waver and doubt when things seem to get worse instead of better. We know that You will respond to our faith. Therefore, we declare that we will not cease to pray until our loved ones who are bound by addiction are released and delivered. We declare, in the Name of Jesus, that our homes, our families, and our communities are restored back to You!

List the names of friends, family, or neighbors who are struggling to break free of an addiction. Commit to pray specifically for them today:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, make us keenly aware of those within our Church Family and community who are hurting and bound. Give us a heart of compassion toward them. Show us how to reach out to them without judging or condemning them. Remind us of Your love and grace that brought us through our trials. Heal those who are bound by addiction in every area of their hurt.  Strengthen and help those who have been hurt by the fallout of addiction – the grandparents raising grandchildren, incarcerated parents, abandoned and abused children, impoverished families, and those who have lost loved ones due to addiction. Help us, as a Church Family, to build better partnerships with community organizations who are reaching out to house, educate, and rehabilitate those who want to come out of addiction. May we be salt and light to them as the Lord has commanded.

Righteous Father, please forgive us for not being there when we should have for those who turned to drugs for comfort. Forgive us for judging and condemning those who are addicted. Forgive us for overlooking opportunities to show love and compassion to the hurting families who are suffering from the effects of addiction. Forgive those who are addicted for turning to something unholy for help instead of turning to You. Forgive them for not responding to the voice of wisdom and making unhealthy choices in life. Forgive those of us who have at one time, knowingly or unknowingly, contributed to the cause of another’s addiction. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind those who are addicted of all those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help those who are addicted to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Glorious Lord, ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything You made, we can clearly see Your invincible qualities – Your eternal power and Your divine nature. O Sovereign Lord, You have only begun to show Your greatness and the strength of Your hand to Your servants. Is there any god in heaven or on earth who can perform such great and mighty deeds as You do? In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for the Declaration of Independence for the United States of America

A Prayer of Thanksgiving for the Declaration of Independence for the United States of America

Scripture Reading:

Exodus 15:1-20, Psalm 33

Reflections of the Heart:

In a world where people are persecuted daily because of their faith, we should reflect on how wonderful it is to live in a

country founded on fundamental freedoms for all of its citizens.  Let us remember those who fought for our nation’s independence and God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, to whom will we compare Your great and marvelous works?  Who is Your equal?  There is none equal to You.  You are great and greatly to be praised.  Your greatness is unsearchable.  We thank You, Father, for the independence of the United States of America.  We thank You for the people of faith who helped lay the constitutional framework for our nation.  Thank You for blessing our nation and its people to live in liberty.  Thank You, Lord, for being the rock and fortress of the United States of America.  You are our deliverer, the God of our strength; we place our trust in You.  You alone are the shield and horn of our salvation.

Father, we declare that where Your Spirit is, there is freedom.  Your Word says, “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”  As we celebrate the independence of our nation, we thank You for providing our freedoms through Your grace and mercy.  On July 2, 1776, delegates of thirteen colonies voted to declare independence from British rule, and on July 4th the formal wording of the declaration was approved and signed.  Holy Spirit, thank You for empowering the founding fathers with Your wisdom, knowledge and courage.  We are thankful for the fact that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by You, our Creator, with certain unalienable rights, and among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  We acknowledge that You are the stronghold and refuge of this nation and as a result we are able to dwell in freedom and security.  We are aware that when the enemy comes against our nation, like a flood, You continue to raise up a standard against him so that we may live in a land of peace, joy and abundance.

Father, we thank You for the soldiers who fought for our independence.  Thank You for the men and women who are presently fighting now to maintain our freedom and independence.  Holy Spirit, we ask that You will strengthen them and help them to remain strong in battle.  Lord, hide our troops and allies under the shadow of Your wings of protection and let them take refuge in You.  Holy Spirit, touch the hearts of our nation’s leaders to trust in You with all their hearts and not lean to their own understanding.  Help them to seek Your will in all that they do, as You direct their paths.  We pray for our President and his administration.  Endow them with Your wisdom and discernment to lead this nation according to Your will.  Please give every American citizen a grace to walk in righteousness and peace; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God forever.

What freedoms in our nation are you personally thankful for?  List them and share your thankfulness to the Lord:  _______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, forgive our nation for taking our constitutional freedoms for granted.  Forgive us for abusing and misusing the laws of this land to suit our own personal interests, agendas and needs.  Forgive us for not respecting those whom You have placed in authority to lead our nation.  Forgive our nation’s leaders for their sins.  Forgive those who do not consult with You about governing our country.  Forgive us, as a nation, for not always acknowledging You and Your righteousness. Forgive us for all acts of sinfulness, including:  hypocrisy, idolatry, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, ageism, elitism, deceit, sexual immorality, lying, violence, hatred, partiality, and slander.  Lord, remind every citizen to be forgiving and please help all of us to forgive.

Lead our nation not into temptation; but deliver it from the evil one.

Blessed are You, the only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords.  You alone have immortality and dwell in the light, which no man can approach.  To You, O God, belongs honor and power everlasting.  Yours is the kingdom, the power and glory forever.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Freedom

A Prayer of Freedom

Scripture Reading:

Exodus 15:1-20, Exodus 6:1-13

Reflections of the Heart:

“The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my victory.  He is my God, and I will priaise Him. He is my father’s God, and I will exalt Him!  The Lord is a warrior; yes, the Lord is His name!”  Exodus 15:2-3

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, hallowed be Your name.  You are our hiding place.  You protect us from trouble and surround us with songs of deliverance.   We give thanks to You, Lord of lords. Your mercy endures forever.  To You, who alone does great wonders; Your mercy endures forever.  To You, who by wisdom made the heavens; Your mercy endures forever.  O Lord, our Lord, Your majestic Name fills the earth.  Lord, we thank You for hearing from heaven and blessing us.  Thank You for Your loving-kindness and tender mercies towards us.

Father, we declare that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus makes us free from the law of sin and death.  Therefore, we confess that our Church Family members, relatives, friends, and co-workers who were held captive by the bondage of sin will be set free through Jesus Christ.  We declare that we will strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinder our progress.  We will run with endurance the race that God has set before us.  We declare that we will throw off our old evil natures and our former ways of life, which is rotten through and through, full of lust and deception.  We confess that there will be a spiritual renewal of our thoughts and attitudes through Christ Jesus which displays our new nature.  Lord, we choose to put away all falsehood and tell our neighbor the truth.  As we do this, we will give no place to the devil.  Lord, we decree that we do not wage war as humans do, but we will use Your mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and false arguments in our minds.  We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps us from knowing You and we declare that our thoughts are held captive to the obedience of Christ.  We command addictions, ungodly habits and strongholds to be broken, in Jesus’ Name.

Father, touch our hearts to trust completely in You and Your word.  Lord, heal every emotional and psychological wound and restore our self-confidence and self-worth.  Give us the desires of our hearts, as we delight in You.  Help us to fulfill Your purpose for our lives.  Blot out our transgressions.  Wash us thoroughly from our iniquities, and cleanse us from our sins.  Holy Spirit, create in us clean hearts, and renew a steadfast spirit within each of us.

Sin has a foothold in my life in the following areas (list them).  I will take the following action steps to break sins hold on my life (list those actions).

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Father, please forgive us for all acts of sinfulness including: idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, homosexuality, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness and revelries. Forgive us for lying, cheating, stealing, slander, strife, malice, envy, jealousy, gossip and backbiting.  Forgive us for selfishness, disobedience and rebellion.   Father, forgive us for relying on ourselves instead of You.  Lord, remind us to forgive others and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but, deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You reign.  You dwell between the cherubim; let the earth be moved.  You are great in Zion and high above all people.  Your name is so great and awesome.  You are Holy.  Yours is the kingdom, the power and glory.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
