September 14: A Prayer for the United States Economy

Gracious Father, we thank You for being faithful to the United States of America throughout our history. Thank You for blessing us to prosper and to grow from generation to generation. Thank You for keeping our nation through our economic hardships and financial conflicts. You have been merciful, Lord. This whole earth, everything in it, and the people who inhabit it belong to You, O God. It is You who supplies us with abundance. It is You who sustains us in times of lack. Your instructions are perfect, they revive our souls. Your commandments are clear and right. They give us insight for living. We, Your children, delight in them and love to meditate on them day and night. We are grateful that You are willing to bear the heavy burdens of our nation so that we are free to worship You and receive rest. Dear Father, it is You who strengthens our nation and holds us up with Your victorious right hand!

Holy Father, we stand in the authority of Jesus’ Name, rebuking the principalities and powers that are inciting conflict and destruction in our nation’s businesses, banks, oil and gas industry, and every other financial entity that contributes to our national economy. We command our economic infrastructure to stabilize and align to Your will, Lord. We confess that the hope of our nation’s citizens will no longer be deferred. Lord, we declare that You will continue to raise up people within our nation’s financial leadership who have a supernatural anointing like Joseph’s to receive, interpret, and administrate visions that will save companies, restore jobs, and open new opportunities in stagnant sectors of our economic markets. All-Knowing Father, we decree that Your solution will be sought and revealed in the earth to justify American jobs and encourage innovation and global competitiveness among domestic corporations, giving priority consideration to United States taxpayers.

Make a list of three businesses in your community and begin to specifically pray that they are successful:

Glorious Father, we pray that Your generous outpouring of wisdom, discernment, and divine understanding will be gladly received by all local, state, and national economic and governmental leaders. Holy Spirit, we ask You to strategically assign men and women who are fully equipped to reveal creative ideas and effective methods to the current presidential economic team. Show them how to decrease our national deficit while continuing to provide the necessary standards, services, and benefits to the American people. Holy Spirit, please revive the Body of Christ and remind us of who we are − the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Give us divine motivation to boldly declare the Word of God so that those who have become captives of this world’s system can be liberated. Help us, as a nation, to reconnect to the Living God as our source and supply, and remove any thoughts of doubt, fear, or dismay.

Loving Father, we repent on behalf of our nation for our many sins. We acknowledge that many of us played an active role in causing the downturn of our economy. Forgive us for greed, arrogance, selfishness, and oppression of the poor. Forgive our CEOs for overcompensating themselves and placing their employees and companies in jeopardy in order to maintain their lavish lifestyles and greedy appetites. Forgive those consumers who acted out of impulse and impatience and made unwise choices, landing them and their families in tremendous debt. Merciful Father, please forgive our nation for being selfish, reckless, and irresponsible with the blessings You intended to be handed down to the generations following us. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind the citizens of our nation of those they need to forgive and help us all to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us, as a nation, not to yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Omnipotent God, how great are Your riches and wisdom and knowledge! You are the God who does great things too marvelous to understand. It is You who performs countless miracles. We praise You, Lord! Let everyone on earth bless Your holy Name forever and ever! Everything comes from You and exists by Your power and is intended for Your glory. All glory to You forever. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 25: A Prayer for Economic Development in Our Community

Almighty God, who created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. You give breath to everyone and life to everyone who walks the earth. We love You and come before You in the Name of Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. We will praise Your mighty deeds, O Sovereign Lord. We will tell everyone that You alone are just. We praise You, Lord! Father God, we are joyful because we fear You, Lord, and delight in obeying Your commands. We are blessed to be Your children. Father, even though people everywhere talk about recession and foreclosures, we are thankful in all circumstances, for this is Your will for us who belong to Christ Jesus. We offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and sing
joyfully about Your glorious acts. Father, we thank You for being the source of our supply. We thank You for taking care of us and supplying all of our needs from Your glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

Heavenly Father, we are encouraged that You give prosperity to the poor and protect those who suffer. We proclaim that our children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever. Lord, we expect business leaders in our community to honor Your Word and live by Your precepts. We command light to shine in the darkness for the godly. We declare that they are generous, compassionate, and righteous. Good comes to those who lend money generously and conduct their business fairly. Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. During the current economic difficulties in our nation and around the world, we claim prosperity for our community. We decree that merchants in our community will not fear bad news; they confidently trust You, Lord, to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face foes triumphantly. They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will grind their teeth in anger; they will slink away, their hopes thwarted. Yes, we expect the Lord to pour down His blessings. We decree that our land will yield its bountiful harvest. Father, we declare that we will support the businesses of the godly men and women in our community.

Father we lift up to You believers in our community who are providing goods and services in a fair and decent manner and pray that our fellow citizens will do business with them. May they be given favor by governmental and civic agencies so that their enterprises will not be impeded, but will flourish. Holy Spirit, inspire these merchants to deal with residents
in our community fairly. Father, deal with the hearts of business owners in all communities who take advantage of poor and destitute laborers, whether they are fellow Americans or foreigners living in our towns. Empower employees in our area to be diligent, honest and trustworthy and to work to increase their knowledge and productivity. Holy Spirit, show
unscrupulous business people in our community the error of their dealings and touch their hearts to repent and change their business practices. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to You, that You may have mercy on them. Yes, Holy Spirit, help them to turn to God, our Father, for He will forgive
generously. Admonish those in our community who do not support local merchants or who try to exploit their businesses. Cause them to repent and seek forgiveness.

Holy Spirit, remind me to support businesses in my community which are worthy of my patronage. Make a list of businesses in your community and begin to support them.

Forgive those who have not been diligent in seeking Your leadership for their businesses. Forgive those who do not trust in You and Your business principles; but lean on their own understanding. Forgive those who have compromised Your Word in order to make a profit. Forgive those who have not treated their employees and customers fairly. Forgive those who have not been faithful in giving through tithes and offerings. Forgive those who have not properly taken care of or shown respect for the community they live in. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed.) Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive. As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Almighty God, You are awesome in Your sanctuary. O God of Israel, You give power and strength to Your people. Praise be to You, God! Let all that we are praise You Lord, our God; how great You are! You are robed with honor and majesty. You live from everlasting to everlasting! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Glorious Father, we thank You for blessing our business and retail community throughout the years. Thank You, for opening doors of opportunity that have produced profit and employment. Thank You for increasing economic development in our city. Lord, Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. You always keep Your promises; You are gracious in all that You do. You help the fallen and lift those bent beneath their loads. The eyes of all look to You in hope; You give them their food as they need it. When You open Your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. We bless and praise Your holy Name!

Almighty Father, we declare that Your Word will be operative in the lives of our business and retail leaders and in the economic development of our city. Father, we confess that our business and retail leaders are blessed and we expect favor to surround them like a shield. As our business and retail leaders commit their works to You, their plans will succeed. The Christian business and retail leaders in our city will continue to seek Your Kingdom above all else, and live righteously, and we know that You will give them everything they need for their business. We declare that they will honor You with their wealth and with the best part of everything they produce, then their barns will be filled with grain and their vats will overflow with good wine. Lord, as our business and retail leaders walk uprightly and do what is right, no good thing will be withheld from them. By faith, we decree that they will treat their employees and customers with dignity, fairness and respect. We expect You to look upon the economic development in our city favorably and bless our city to be fruitful.

List the names of two businesses and retailers in your community and pray for them:

Holy Spirit, please fill our business and retail leaders with Your wisdom, understanding, counsel, and power. Give them dreams and visions that exceed their expectations and provide them with the resources they need to successfully accomplish Your purpose(s) for their businesses. Father, encourage potential business and retail leaders and entrepreneurs to write down Your vision for their businesses and make it plain in a business plan so that they and their investors can implement it. We ask You to reveal new revenue streams within the business and retail community. Lord, please continue to bless our city so that it will reflect Your glory and benefit the people living in it.

Merciful Father, forgive our business and retail leaders for all acts of sinfulness. Forgive those who have not been diligent in seeking Your leadership for their business. Forgive those who do not trust in You, but lean to their own understanding. Forgive those who have compromised Your Word in order to make a profit. Forgive those who have not treated their employees and customers fairly. Forgive those Christian business and retail owners who have not been faithful in giving their tithes and offerings. Magnificent Father, touch the hearts of the people in our community to support the businesses. Help the business owners to establish fair and honest business practices so that the residents in our community will enjoy doing business with them. Show the owners and managers new and creative ways to increase their revenue without taking advantage of their customers. Convict the hearts of business owners in all communities who treat their employees and customers poorly. Holy Spirit, help the employees to be diligent, hard working individuals who will work as unto You instead of to man.

February 14: A Prayer for the State of Texas

Our Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your tender mercies and loving-kindness towards the City of Houston. Thank You for the bountiful blessings You have given to us. Thank You for the state of Texas. Thank You for uniting the Christians within our state. Lord, no pagan god is like You, our Lord. None can do what You do! All the nations You made will come and bow before You; they will praise Your holy Name. You are great, and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God. Lord, You are good and Your faithful love endures forever.

Glorious Father, we declare that the state of Texas belongs to You and that it is You who will cause prosperity to overflow in our communities and cities. We decree that justice will run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream within the political, judicial, and educational systems in our state. We commit to praying for those who are in authority over us; Governor Greg Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Mayor Sylvester Turner, the city council, and all business, civic and community leaders. As we do this, we expect to live peaceful and quiet lives marked by Godliness and dignity. We declare that the righteous in our city and state will be called priests of the Lord; ministers of You, our God. We will feed on the treasures of the nations and boast in their riches. Instead of shame and dishonor, the residents of Texas will enjoy a double share of honor. We will possess a double portion of prosperity in our land, and everlasting joy will be ours.

Holy Spirit, show me how to pray specifically for the needs of my community:

Rise up, O God, in Texas and scatter Your enemies. Let crime, murder and lawlessness be scattered. Let homelessness, unemployment and corporate greed be scattered. Holy Spirit, fill the halls of the schools in our state so that our children and youth will be safe and will obtain a quality education. Father, please open doors for economic increase within our communities. Help the homeowners in Texas to successfully maintain their property and pay their mortgages and taxes on time. Let equality and justice flow through the Medical Center so that everyone receives quality, affordable health care. Let Your perfect love and peace preside over our city and state. Holy Spirit, help Texas to stand as a beacon of light and hope for the nation to see what a Godly state looks like.

Righteous Father, forgive the people of our state for hypocrisy, injustice, oppression, greed, racism, sexism, ageism, elitism, deceit, lying, lewdness, pornography, selfish ambitions, lawlessness, rebellion, violence, hatred, partiality, sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, adultery, fornication, and slander. Forgive us for not equipping and preparing the next generation with the tools, knowledge and self-confidence they will need to be effective, efficient leaders for tomorrow. Lord, forgive the Body of Christ for not praying consistently for our leaders, city, state and nation. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. Eternal Lord, You are Holy. You are the blessed and only Almighty God, the King of kings and Lord of lords. You alone can never die, and lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach You. No one has ever seen You, nor ever will. To You be honor and power forever. In Jesus’ Name, amen
