A Prayer for Healthy Pregnancies and Healthy Babies

A Prayer for Healthy Pregnancies and Healthy Babies

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 135:1-7, Psalm 127:3-5

Reflections of the Heart:

Very few things bring as much excitement as a new baby.  Every baby and child is a gift from God.  Matter of fact, each is a reward from the Lord – one of God’s miracles of life.  Pray for those in our Church Family who are expecting their miracle soon and for those whose miracle has arrived.

Scriptural Prayer:

Sovereign Lord, You are great!  There is no one like You.  We have never even heard of another God like You!  Your throne endures forever and ever.  You rule with a scepter of justice.  You love justice and hate evil.  You are our God and we earnestly search for You.  Our souls thirst for You; we long for You in our bodies in this parched and weary land where there is no water.  We have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory.  Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how we praise You!  Father, we thank You for being the source of life.  Thank You for every expectant mother in our congregation.  Thank You for every child that has been born into our Church Family.

Father, we declare that the children who are born into this Church Family are healthy and well loved.  Lord, You knit them together in their mother’s womb.  We declare that each baby is wonderfully made. Your workmanship is marvelous!  You made all of their delicate, inner parts.   Today, we confess that every baby in utero has exactly 46 chromosomes and they will develop without defect or deformity.  We declare that every anatomical system, cell, muscle, tissue and organ will develop according to Your divine purpose and plan.  We decree that mothers will carry their babies to full term.  We destroy every demonic assignment against our unborn, including the assignment of premature birth.  In Jesus’ Name, there will be no miscarriages or infertility in our congregation.  We proclaim that sickness and disease, including SIDS, autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, juvenile diabetes, cancer, dyslexia, and all other childhood diseases or dysfunctions, have no legal right to inhabit our children because God is their Shepherd and Shield.  As a Church Family, we cry out for our children who have been diagnosed with a disease or disorder. In Jesus’ Name, we command God’s divine healing to manifest in their bodies, from the crowns of their heads to the soles of their feet, now!  We decree that, by Jesus’ stripes, they are healed. We proclaim that our children will grow and develop into mighty men and women of God.  We confess that our children can learn and process information properly.  They will do all things through Christ who strengthens them, including excel academically.

Father, we ask You to increase Your wisdom and knowledge in every expectant mother.  Holy Spirit, remind them to get the proper rest and nutrition.  Lord, watch over each expectant mother and keep her body healthy.  Provide a support network of family and friends who will help them during and after their pregnancies.  Strengthen the minds, bodies and spirits of parents who have children with special needs.  Holy Spirit, show us, as a Church Family, how we can support and help them.  Cause Your peace to be still in the minds, hearts, and spirits of those mothers who are fearful and anxious.  Please provide financial miracles for families who are struggling financially.  Father, there is nothing too difficult for You.

Father, please forgive our parents and expectant parents for any acts of sinfulness.  Forgive those who have committed fornication or adultery.  Forgive parents for stubbornness, quick tempers and lack of patience.  Forgive them for not seeking help when they are feeling anxious, depressed, fretful, angry or overwhelmed.   Forgive us as a Church Family for not offering more support to our parents.  Forgive us for the times when we have been insensitive to those families who have children with special needs.  Lord, remind all of us of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead our parents not into temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

God, You are greater than we can understand.  Your years cannot be counted.  You draw up the water vapor and distill it into rain.  Only You know where light comes from and where darkness goes.  You direct the movement of the stars, binding the cluster of the Pleiades and loosening the cords of Orion.  Holy and triumphant is Your Name!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer for Families

Family

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 145:1-13, Psalm 128

Reflections of the Heart:

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”  Joshua 24:15

Scriptural Prayer:

Heavenly Father, our souls honor thee.  You are great and mighty in power. Your understanding is infinite. We love You and extol Your Holy name.  Out of the mouth of babes and infants You have ordained strength.  What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?  We thank You for thinking of us enough to give us dominion in the earth. Father, we thank You for our relationships.  We thank You for our family and for the institution of marriage and parenthood.  Lord, we thank You for fulfilling Your plans and purposes in our lives and for surrounding us with favor like a shield.  Thank You for continually blessing us with Your loving kindness and tender mercies.  Your mercy endures forever.

Father, it is Your will that our families prosper and be in health as our souls prosper.  We declare that our families live in peaceful habitations, in safe dwellings and in quiet resting places.  We declare that stability, salvation, love, wisdom and knowledge abide in our homes. We confess that our husbands will love their wives as Christ loves the church and our wives respect their husbands. We confess that the husbands of WVUMC are blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, and sober-minded.  They are not given to wine, violence, greedy for money, quarrelsome or covetous.  We confess that they rule their own houses well. We declare that our children are obedient, for this is right in Your sight. Lord, as a church family, we come against bickering, slander, strife, the spirits of perversion, violence, offense, lies, rebellion, disobedience and cruelty in our families.  We break all soul ties, strong holds and generation curses in our blood lines.  We confess that no weapon formed against our families will prosper.  We confess that everything the devil meant for evil, our God will turn around for our good.   We call for a spiritual revival in our families. Father, we will hold fast to the confession of our faith without wavering.  We confess that Your love will reign supreme in our homes and Your peace is an umpire in our family relationships.

Father, we ask that You give each of our family members one heart and put a new spirit within us. Where there are strained relationships in our families, please turn our hearts back to one another.  Give us Your wisdom and let discretion preserve us and understanding keep us from the way of evil.  Please unite our families closer together. Holy Spirit, empower married couples to be the priests, prophets, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, providers, protectors and leaders of their homes.  Help them to not provoke their children to wrath, but to bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.  Help our single parents to be the priests, prophets, parents, nurturers, providers, protectors, and leaders of their homes.  Lord, strengthen and impart Your wisdom into the lives of our single parents.  Help them to model a life that is pleasing to You.  Holy Spirit, please help our singles to live with all godliness and contentment, which is great gain.  For those singles who desire a mate, help them to wait patiently on You. Father, open the lines of communication in our homes, so that there is a good rapport in our families. Please keep our children and youth as the apple of Your eye and let Your favor surround them like a shield.   Let peace, love and understanding reside in our families

Father, please forgive our families for sin. Forgive us for all acts of sinfulness, such as bitterness, resentment, adultery, fornication, spousal abuse, child abuse, envy, strife, unkindness, rebellion, deception, doubt, fear, injustice and oppression.  Lord, remind us to forgive one another, as well as others and help us to forgive.

Lead us not into temptation; but, deliver us from the evil one.

Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours is the greatness, the power, the victory and the majesty.  All that is heaven and earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head over all.  In Your hand is power and might.  In Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all.  God, You are sovereign and You have dominion and You reign supreme. You are our eternal king. In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer for Children

A Prayer for Children

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 95:1-7, Daniel 1:8-21

Reflections of the Heart:

We declare that our children are heirs of righteousness!  Each day they are growing in wisdom and stature.  They have favor both with God and men.

Scriptural Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, we shout joyfully to You, the Rock of our salvation. We come to You with thanksgiving; for You are the great God, and the great King above all gods.  You hold the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains in Your hands.  The sea belongs to You, for You made it.  Your hands formed the dry land, too.   We come to worship and bow down; we kneel before You, our Lord and Maker.  You are our God and we are the people You watch over, the flock under Your care.   We thank You for life, health, and strength.  Thank You for blessing us with strong, healthy, and vibrant children.  Thank You for _________ (specifically call out each child’s name).

Father, it is Your will that, as parents, we walk in integrity so that our children are blessed.  It is Your will that our children are taught of You and Your Word so that they will enjoy great peace.  It is Your will that they hide Your Word in their hearts that they might not sin against You.  It is Your will that our children be bold and courageous in their obedience to You.   We confess that Your will for our children is for Your Word to be fully operative in their lives.  We realize that obedience to Your Word gives our children wisdom and living daily according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit gives them power.  We confess that our children obey Your Word.  We declare that they walk by faith and not by sight.  In Jesus’ Name, they will trust You with all of their hearts and not depend on their own understanding.  We declare that You will be the center of everything they do and we expect their paths to be straight.

Holy Spirit, we ask You to touch the hearts of our children to confess with their mouths the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead so that they are saved.  Please circumcise their hearts to love You, the Lord their God, with all their hearts and souls.  Holy Spirit, please lead and guide them to Your truth.  We pray that You help our children to keep the statutes, judgments, and commandments of God so that they might have wisdom and understanding.   Teach them how to activate the power of God as they walk according to You, Holy Spirit, and not their flesh.  Let the mind of Christ be in them so that they will act, talk and think like Jesus.  Remind them to not put other gods before our Heavenly Father.  Help them to honor and obey their parents so that they live long, full lives and things may go well with them.

Father, please forgive parents for any abuse or neglect.  Forgive parents for being so preoccupied with their own needs that they fail to have structure in their homes for healthy meals; support for educational needs; and training for good manners, and citizenship.   Forgive parents for being selfish, self-centered and single-minded.  Lord, remind us all of those we need to forgive; and help us to be quick to forgive.

Lead us not to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, the victorious One.  Your Name is above all other names.  At the Name of Jesus, every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth.  Every tongue will confess that You, Jesus Christ, are Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
