A Prayer For Immigrant Families Along The U.S. Border

Gracious Father, we thank You for the signing of the executive order for immigrant families to stay together.  Thank You for being concerned for all humanity, including immigrant families.  Thank You for Your presence, love and mercy towards these families.  Lord God, Your ways are perfect.  All of Your promises prove true.  You are a shield for all who look to You for protection.  There is no God except You, Lord.  You are a solid rock.

Righteous Father, we command justice to continue to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream for the immigrant families entrenched in the current atrocity that separated children from their parents in America!  Lord, we rebuke the spirits of obstinance, chaos, and confusion and command peace to be still in the processing of these families.  Lord, continue to hear the cries of these families and rescue them from trouble.  We expect that You will meet their needs speedily from Your glorious riches which have been given in Christ Jesus.

Holy Spirit, help President Donald Trump and Congress to reach a scriptural resolution for this issue.  Give them no rest until it is done!  Touch the hearts of the United States Border Patrol men and women and help them to treat the families, especially the children, fairly and with compassion.  Remind them of the legacy of America in which many families have found better economic opportunities and refuge throughout history.  Lord, please have mercy on our nation!  Convict the hearts of those who are preying on the fears of these families to manipulate them.  As the Body of Christ, please show us what actions we are to take and how we are to extend Your love and grace to these families.

Abba Father, forgive our leaders for the dehumanizing and unscriptural acts of separating immigrant families. Holy Spirit, help our nation to be forgiving.

Holy Spirit, help our citizens not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.\

Triumphant God, You are King!  The mountains melt like wax before You, Lord.  The heavens proclaim Your righteousness; every nation sees Your glory!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Declaration of Protection for Our Children and Youth

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 121, Luke 24:35-49

Reflections of the Heart:

Our children and youth are living in a very volatile generation. Crimes against children have increased dramatically over the past decade, and it is imperative that we use our authority in Jesus Christ to stand up for the safety of all children. Let us become more aware, more alert, and more involved so that they can be assured of a safe and happy future.

Scriptural Prayer:

Righteous Father, we are so grateful that You are all-seeing and all-knowing. You have Your eye on each and every person on this earth, including our children and youth. Thank You for faithfully watching over them every day. We thank You for keeping Your angels stationed around them day and night. Thank You, Lord, for guarding their lives in the face of seen and unseen dangers. Father, we give You glory. You are in Your holy Temple, yet You still rule from heaven. You watch everyone closely, examining every person on earth. We lift our hands and worship You, for You Yourself watch over our children and youth. You stand beside them as their protective shade.  All praises to You, our Father and our God!

Awesome Father, when our children and youth are at home, You are there. When they are in school, You are there. Wherever they go, You are there. We believe in the power of Your Word, so we commit ourselves to declaring blessings over our children and youth every day. In the Name of Jesus, we rebuke every foul plot of the enemy to harass, bully, injure, harm, or kidnap our children and youth. The blood of Jesus covers them and guards their steps. We declare that our children and youth live in the shelter of the Most High, and they find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. You alone are their refuge and their place of safety. You are their God, and they trust You. Lord, we expect You to rescue them from every trap (drugs, alcohol, crime, and abuse), and protect them from deadly disease. You promised that You will cover them with Your feathers. You will shelter them with Your wings. These promises are their armor and their protection.

Holy Spirit, teach us all how valuable our children and youth are to the Father. Help parents to act responsibly when it comes to the welfare of their children. Keep them from being distracted by work, bills, relationships, and other issues. Help them to be open to correction and instruction if they are lacking in good, balanced parenting skills. Lord, help us all to be shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves in the handling of our children and youth.  Give us the courage to take action when we see warning signs of impending danger around them. Help our communities to come together to cover those children who are runaways and castaways. Encourage these children to come to know the love of the Father and to trust in Him to get them to safety and to people who will care for them. Empower our law enforcement officers, social workers, attorneys, child advocates, and court judges with the ability to bring to justice those who perpetrate crimes against children and youth. Bring strong conviction upon the hearts of those who have harmed our children and youth, and bring them to the point of repentance and deliverance so that they can receive the grace and redemption that Jesus made possible for all mankind.

List the names of any children and youth who are or may be in danger and pray for them. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can be of help:

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Blessed Father, forgive us for our sins, especially those we have committed against our children and youth. Forgive those who discourage and demean our children and youth.  Forgive those who refuse to do their part to protect our children and youth. Forgive those parents and guardians who refuse to seek help for their children when they are spiraling out of control. Forgive those in the Church who judge and ostracize our children and youth instead of seeking to understand and show them, love. Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that You have committed). Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that You may need to forgive. As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in Your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Magnificent Father, no one is holy like You! There is no one besides You. There is no rock like our God. You are the Lord, the Mighty One, who has spoken and summoned all humanity from where the sun rises to where it sets. From Mount Zion, the perfection of beauty, You shine in glorious radiance. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 21: A Prayer for Godly Friends for Our Children and Youth

Gracious God, thank You for loving us so much that You sent Jesus Christ to be our Lord, Savior and Friend. Thank You for creating the gift of friendship and blessing us with Godly relationships. Thank You for calling us Your friends.  We are honored to be Your friend.  Abba Father, Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how we praise You! We will praise You as long as we live, lifting up our hands to You in prayer. We will praise Your Name with singing, and we will honor You with thanksgiving.  We give thanks to You because You are near.  People everywhere will tell of Your wonderful deeds.

Heavenly Father, it is Your will that our children and youth develop and maintain Godly, healthy friendships.  Your Word declares that two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.  If one falls, the other can reach out and help; but someone who falls alone is in real trouble.  We declare that our children and youth will have Godly friends who will seek first Your Kingdom above all else, and live righteously so that they will receive from You all that they need.  Their friends will love You, Lord, with all of their hearts, souls, minds and strength and they will love our children and youth as they love themselves.  We decree that the parents and guardians of our youth and children will model friendships that are wholesome and Godly so that they will understand what friendship really looks like. In Jesus’ Name, we cancel every toxic friendship and destroy the assignments of the devil against our children and youth.  We confess that our young people will not follow the advice of the wicked, stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

I will pray for the following children and youth to find and maintain healthy, Godly friendships:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Loving Father, some of our children and youth struggle when it comes to making friends.  Holy Spirit, please help them to walk in the love of Christ and draw Godly friends to themselves.  In their quest for friendship, help our children and youth to love themselves. Instruct our parents and guardians on how to help their child or youth to see themselves through the Father’s eyes.  Give them the words to be able to help their child or youth to understand how precious Your thoughts are towards them.  As they grow in self-esteem and self-worth, help them to grow in boldness and confidence in the way that they carry themselves so that they will attract Godly, positive people into their lives.  Help our children and youth to be kind, fair, and friendly.

Merciful Father, forgive our children and youth if they have intentionally isolated other students or made others to feel inferior.  Forgive them for succumbing to peer pressure in their desire to fit in with a certain group of people.  Forgive our parents and guardians for not teaching their children how to be good friends and affirming them in Your Word.  Forgive them if they have belittled or made light of their child or youth’s desire to have friends.  As for me, Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our children and youth of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help our children and youth to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Glorious King, You are honored in Judah; Your Name is great in Israel. You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains.  You are the King of Glory; the Lord strong and mighty, the Lord invincible in battle!  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 17: A Back-to-School Prayer for Our Educators and Students

Our Father, we praise and thank You for our educators and students.  Thank You for each school and school district.  Thank You for surrounding each educator and student with favor like a shield.  We exalt You, our God and King and praise Your Name forever and ever.  We will praise You every day and forever.  Lord You are great and most worthy of praise; no one can measure Your greatness.  Each generation will tell its children of Your mighty acts and proclaim Your power.  Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains and Your justice like the ocean depths.  As a Church Family, we come clapping our hands and shouting to You with joyful praise.  You are the Lord, Most High, and You are awesome!  You are the great King of all the earth.

Triumphant Father, we confess that like Jesus, our students will grow in wisdom, stature and favor with You and all people.  We declare that they will focus on their studies during the school term and not grow distracted or complacent. Each student will work willingly in their classes as though they were working for You.  Lord, we declare that no evil will conquer them, nor will any plague come near their homes.  We expect for You to order Your angels to protect them wherever they go.  We decree that the wisdom of God will enter and rule in their hearts.  We confess that they will respect and obey the instructions of their parents, teachers and school administrators.  We declare that the wise instruction of the teachers will be like a life-giving fountain to each student.  In Jesus’ Name, each parent will direct their children onto the right path, and when they are older they will not leave it.  Our students will have good success because they will meditate daily and obey Your Word.

Holy Spirit, I will pray for the following educators and students in my family and community:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Holy Spirit, impart into our students Your spirit of excellence, like Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego.  Bless our educators for their service to the Houston community and surrounding communities.  Help them to remain committed to their educational “calling.”  Keep them safe in their classrooms and lead and guide them as they teach. Grant each teacher wisdom, creativity, and grace to teach each child according to his or her needs, level of intelligence, and learning capabilities.  Increase the wisdom and understanding of each parent on how to partner with the schools to achieve success in their student’s education.  Bless the homes of each student to be a place of love, peace and support.  We ask You to increase the capacity of the students to learn, comprehend and excel in all areas of their education including: reading, mathematics, sciences, arts, and all required testing. During their extracurricular activities, please protect them from injury.  Help each student to develop Godly friendships this school year. Holy Spirit, create within each student, teacher, and administrator an excitement, passion and academic desire as they enter the new school year.

Merciful Father, forgive the sins of our educators and students (list the specific sins).  Forgive those of us in the Body of Christ, for being negligent in teaching our students to first reverence You, which is the foundation of true knowledge.  Forgive those parents for sacrificing their students to excessive television, video games, music and to the ways and customs of the world.  Forgive us, as a nation, for devaluing the worth of teachers and education.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind our educators and students of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help our educators and students to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Exalted Lord, You are worthy to receive glory, honor and power.  You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased.  Yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever.   In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

August 8: A Prayer for Single Parents

Almighty Father, we thank You for the joy of parenthood. We thank You for fulfilling Your plans and purposes in our lives and for surrounding us with favor like a shield. We give thanks to You, Lord, and proclaim Your greatness. We will let the whole world know what You have done.  For Your love remains forever with those who fear You. Your salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to Your covenant, of those who obey Your commandments!

Father God, we declare that our single parents are joyful because they trust You with all of their hearts and do not depend on their own understanding of parenthood.  They seek Your will in all that they do and we know that You will continue to show them which path to take concerning their children. Heavenly Father, we confess Your Word of truth over all single parents, that they will discipline, teach and train their children with love and patience just as You, Lord, discipline, teach and train those You love.  We declare that the boys in our Church Family will flourish in their youth like well-nurtured plants and our daughters will be like graceful pillars, carved to beautify a palace.

Holy Spirit, please help those single parents who are struggling in their relationships with their children to remain joyful. Help them all to live before their children in a way that mirrors God’s Word so that their children will not see them as hypocrites and turn away from the love of Christ. Lord, help our single parents to not grow tired or weary, but to trust You to provide the strength and wisdom that they need. Help us all to see our children as a gift and reward from the Lord. Holy Spirit, increase our patience for our families, so that we live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Jesus Christ.

Holy Spirit, as a single parent, I ask You to help me with the following:

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Loving Father, forgive our single parents for sin, including bitterness, resentment, fornication, envy, strife, unkindness, rebellion, deception, doubt, fear, economic mismanagement, poor parenting and oppression. Holy Spirit, remind all single parents to seek Your forgiveness when they respond in anger to the challenges they face with their children.  Forgive those who inflict harm or cause their children to turn away from the teaching of Your Word.  Father, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind all single parents of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive.  As for me, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help all single parents to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord God, You have made the heavens Your throne; from there You rule over everything. We praise You with the angels, the mighty ones who carry out Your plans, listening for each of Your commands. Yes, we praise You, Lord, with the armies of angels who serve You and do Your will!  We praise You, Lord God, for everything You have created, everything in all Your Kingdom.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

July 30: A Prayer Concerning Summer Vacations for The Body of Christ

Magnificent Father, we thank You for creating this vast and beautiful world. There are so many places for us to take our families to explore and experience life; ideal places where we can refresh ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually. Thank You for the ability to travel and experience new things together. Thank You for providing not only for our daily needs, but also for our need for rest and relaxation. How joyful are all who fear You Lord, and follow Your ways! We will enjoy the fruit of our labor. How joyful and prosperous we will be! All honor and praise belong to You, our holy God, for giving us rest.

Faithful Father, in Your eternal wisdom, You have ordained a time of rest for all creation.  You take pleasure in our recreation, for You richly give us all that we need for enjoyment.  This summer, we declare that parents will take advantage of the opportunity to get away with their children and reconnect. For most of the year, we are focused on our daily tasks, but it is time that we focus on replenishing ourselves. Therefore, we commit to getting out and enjoying ourselves with our families. We will not entertain guilt or anxiety about taking time off work. We will enjoy the time that we have earned and fully immerse ourselves in travel, discovery, and fellowship. Our children will get to know us on a deeper level and we will create fond memories together for them to pass down from generation to generation. We declare that as we travel on vacations, You will order Your angels to protect us wherever we go. We confess that the Holy Spirit will guide us as we make our plans, and we will receive supernatural favor on travel expenses and accommodations. We will have fun!

Make a vacation plan with your family and write down what you need the Lord to provide for it. Then thank Him that you already have it and get ready to enjoy and have fun:

Holy Spirit, remind us that the Sabbath is not only a day, it is command of the Lord meant to be a part of our lifestyle. When we relax and recreate, it is a sign that our total trust is in the Father, not on our own abilities. For those who have the money, but are reluctant to take time off work, please open their eyes. Help them to understand the importance of making time with their family a priority. For those who may not have the money to travel at this time, show them creative ways to make memories with their families where they live. Show us all the free or inexpensive activities that we can share as a family right here in Houston.  Help us all to be willing to try new things and engage in new experiences that will expand our minds and help us to grow closer to our loved ones. Give us wisdom as we travel so that we can enjoy ourselves in peace. Strengthen us to truly disconnect from all distractions, like phone calls, emails, and text messages. Help us to guard our leisure time and maintain appropriate boundaries with our employers, co-workers, and others. Remind us all that leisure actually increases the effectiveness of our labor. Above all, teach us how to take advantage of these opportunities so that we don’t lose sight of what’s most important in life.

Righteous Father, forgive us of all our sins. Forgive us for sometimes forgetting the importance of rest. Forgive us for neglecting our families and the need to connect and fellowship with one another.  Forgive those who are driven by their needs and wants so much that they refuse to trust You to take care of them.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us of all those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to show you names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He shows you, say aloud, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Royal King, what a variety of things You have made! In Your wisdom, You have made them all. The earth is full of Your creatures. May Your glory continue forever! You take pleasure in all You have made. The earth trembles at Your glance and the mountains smoke at Your touch. How magnificent You are! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

July 24: A Prayer of Protection for Our Children and Youth

List the names of any children and youth who are or may be in danger and pray for them. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how you can be of help:

Holy Spirit, teach us all how valuable our children and youth are to the Father. Help parents to act responsibly when it comes to the welfare of their children. Keep them from being distracted by work, bills, relationships, and other issues. Help them to be open to correction and instruction if they are lacking in good, balanced parenting skills. Lord, help us all to be shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves in the handling of our children and youth.  Give us the courage to take action when we see warning signs of impending danger around them. Help us to come together in our communities to cover those children who are runaways and castaways.  Encourage these children to come to know the love of the Father and to trust in Him to get them to safety and to people who will care for them.

Forgive those in the Church who judge and ostracize our children and youth instead of seeking to understand them and showing them love.

Before you go, can we pray for you?
