A Prayer Against Tropical Storm Imelda

Dear Believer,

Stand in your front or backyard, extend your hand in the direction of the Gulf Coast and speak to Tropical Storm Imelda.  In Mark 4:35-39, Jesus Christ spoke to the weather and commanded it to be calm.  So, as believers, we are following His example.  Pray with the authority that has been given to you in Jesus Christ and pray in faith. Please pray this prayer out loud and with fervency and determination.  God has placed His power in our verbal expressions, so lift up your voice.  Believe that your prayers will produce results in Jesus’ Name.  Continue to pray this prayer until Tropical Storm Imelda has dissipated or passed over.

Thank you, in advance, for standing on the wall for our region.

Prayer Against Tropical Storm Imelda

Glorious Father, thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You for protecting us from past hurricanes and tropical storms. Thank You for helping those persons who were impacted by the recent flood events in the Greater Houston Area.  Lord, Your glory is higher than the heavens.  You are great and Your power is absolute!  Your understanding is beyond comprehension.  Lord, Most High, You are awesome.  You are the King of all the earth.

Eternal Father, using the authority given to us in the Name of Jesus, we speak to Tropical Storm Imelda and we command peace, be still!  We command the winds to dissipate and the barometric pressure to rise and normalize.  By faith, as the people of God, we declare that this storm will not bring excessive flooding, electrical shortages, harm or devastation to our city and the surrounding coastal areas.  We confess that the rain that comes from this disturbance will not overwhelm our region.

Holy Spirit, we ask You to touch the heart of every believer in our city to pray against this storm system and calm the fears of every citizen. Father, Your Word helped with Hurricane Irene and Isaac, please cause it to help with this storm.

Merciful Father, please forgive us for our many sins.  Please forgive disobedience, rebellion, unbelief, forms of idolatry, immorality, and the rejection of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Father, have mercy on our city and the surrounding coastal areas.  Holy Spirit, remind us all to forgive others.

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptations and deliver us from all evil.

Lord, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power.  You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A Prayer of Recovery for the Grand Bahamas and Abaco Islands

Triumphant Father, we thank You for hearing our prayers concerning the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands. Thank You for comforting those impacted and for helping them to recover.  Holy Spirit, thank You for pouring out Your spirit of love, compassion, benevolence and generosity.  Thank You for supplying all the needs for those impacted according to Your glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.  Lord, You are great, and Your power is absolute! Your understanding is beyond comprehension.  Lord, Most High, You are awesome.  You are the King of all the earth.

Gracious Father, we declare that the citizens of the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands will rebuild the ruins and restore the places that were devastated by Hurricane Dorian.  We expect Your favor to surround them like a shield. We declare renewal in the ruined areas!  We call forth the blessings of God to rest upon their communities!  Lord, we command justice to run down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream within every governmental agency and insurance company that is responsible for helping the residents to recover.  We command the necessary funds for rebuilding to come forth!   We declare that the hope and trust of each citizen are in You, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!  Today, we stand in the gap and pray for the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands!  We pray for their leaders in business and commerce, energy, healthcare, education and the religious community.  We declare God’s blessings, protection and provision over the thousands of residents of Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands who are without shelter, stranded by flooding and are likely to suffer shortages of food, water and medicine.

God, our Healer, please heal each person emotionally and psychologically.  Holy Spirit, calm the fears of every citizen, especially children and the elderly.  Comfort those who have experienced the death of their loved ones and total loss of their homes and businesses.  Let Your love and presence saturate their hearts, souls and spirits.  Touch the hearts of people throughout the world to give generously.  Holy Spirit, lead and guide the United Nations, the U.S. Embassy in Nassau and all local officials to rebuild the infrastructure with supernatural efficiency.  Continue to send people who will love, support, and comfort the residents during their time of recovery.  God, our Healer, please provide healing and speedy recovery to every citizen.

Righteous Father, forgive the citizens for all acts of sinfulness.  Forgive those governmental leaders for not looking after their citizens and for oppressing the poor and disadvantaged.  Forgive those of us who are insensitive to the needs of those severely impacted by Hurricane Dorian.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind the citizens of the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands of those they need to forgive and help them to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them say, “I forgive name of person(s).”  Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help the citizens of the Grand Bahama and Abaco Islands not to yield to temptation but deliver them from the evil one.

Lord, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power.  You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
